[FIXED]screen resolution

Post by Hanternoz »

Hi all,

I'm facing an issue with FS 3.2.8.
I have a DELL Studio 17"4 with touchscreen 1600*900
the FS sliders are not properly displayed.
For example, here is a screenshot for a 4 channel scan : I can see only the 3 first sliders. slider 4 is not reachable.
Image
Any suggestion ?

I agree. it has nothing to do with the resolution of the screen.

I disagree : The splash screen also displays a blank band around the normal picture and all fixtures have the same issue ..

Or I am missing something

OK I see the problem now but I don't think its the resolution of the screen.

But to see if its a factor please setup the res to the lowest you can, for example 800x600 and see if you still have this weird problem.
Other than that try resinstalling FS.

If I remember correctly FS is not normally affected by the screen resolution.

I made the following tests :

1/ Change screen resolution :
Tried 800*600, got a warning message, but the software started: same issue
Tried 1024*768, got no warnig, software started: same issue

2/ Uninstall Freestyler and Reinstall
run in 1024*768 : same issue

As I'm a player, I also tried in landscape and Portrait, but the same appears.

NOTE: I'm using Windows 7 pro 64 bits on a DELL Studio 17"4 Multitouch
Let me know how I can further help

1600x900 is a strange resolution. It is correct according to the DELL website, but is still a strange resolution and aspect ratio. Ultra wide. I have screens that are 1920x1200, 1680x1050 and 1440x900, these are all 16:10 or 16:9 ratio (I think all 16:10) so you can see that 1600x900 is a strange aspect ratio.

Maybe that is what it does not like the aspect ratio. I remember when laptops first came out with descent sized/resolution LED displays how the DOS start-up was just a small portion in the middle of the screen, because they could not handle a full DOS screen at 640x480 it could only handle what ever the native resolution of the LED display was.

Also check the screens DPI setting as I have seen that mess up some windows when it has not been set at "Normal size (96 dpi)".

OK, I have the answer : As I have a multitouch option, a default setting extends some prpoerties of objects and it was set up to 125% as default
See below the seetings.
Restoring this setting to 100% solves the issue, but reduces all icons and as I have big fingers, I need to find a middle solution :-(

Glad you found the reason for this problem! Sorry you have BIG finger syndrome !

Had a feeling it would not be an FS problem as its never come up before!

Glad you found out what was causing the problem.

I also have fat fingers and very big hands 280mm from tip of thumb to tip of little finger with hand fanned out, I have trouble getting gloves to fit me.
O computers especially with touchscreens, I just live with things as they are, rather than messing around with "default" settings.

As I know FS from a long time, I assume it wasn't a FS issue, but we can still consider it for an update as windows resizes objects, but looks like FS is not able to support this functionnality, while other softwares should (I didn't faced it with VDJ)

Anyhow, I can propose to run tests for that if Raph would like.
