FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
When I'm using the Create Sequence I save it, reload it and the dimmer has been set to zero. I could not find a way to keep FreeStyler from setting the dimmer value to zero.
How do I fix this?
Thank you.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
please make sure to not make changes at all before opening sequence creator. That way you know everything you can see is actually being recorded into the sequence.
Step 1 open freestyler
step 2 Open sequence editor
step 3 select fixtures and adjust channels to desired effect
Step 4 save sequence
Things are much more difficult if you adjust fixtures THEN open the sequence editor.

5) Open Sequence (Dimmer now set to 0)
Or

What version of Freestyler are you running? I have a very similar issue with 4.1.1

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
Does the dimmer work correctly when you run the sequence in the sequence editor? Pictures are too small for me to see details. Can you create a backup file in Freestyler and post it here?

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
Rod, I am running FreeStyler 4.1.1. Were you able to resolve the error, did you submit a bug report?
Partyman: I'm attaching the file as an attachment. I can also upload the pictures with a better resolution if needed. I have also uninstalled (via Revo Uninstaller) and installed Freestyler a couple of times. I've also rebuilt the fixture file. Thank you for helping.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
I have loaded your file and have no problem saving dimmer channel values. You have the sequence editor working in "static" mode (which I dont care for). Am not really sure how you are trying to program things or run things. There are many different ways to run Freestyler depending on your use. Theatre guys run things different from DJs and each have different needs. Your method of building shows does not seem good for continued growth. What is your objective? Are you a DJ, Band, Playhouse, ...? What is your best case scenario for what you want Freestyler to do?

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
In "Static" mode Freestyler only saves what you have done before opening the Sequence creator, in "Transparent" mode freestyler only saves what has been done AFTER the sequence creator is opened. Static mode also auto selects all fixtures when the sequence creator is opened. I prefer to program all my fixtures individually and stack cues.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
I am a retired DJ. I want to be able to DJ and have a light show,
I want to be able to set up my scenes and call them at a moment's notice. Since I'm lighting up the mirror ball, do I set it up all at once, or do I create three steps?
1) Turn on the mirror ball motor
2) Turn on the front green light
3) Turn on the rear blue light
I also want to turn off and on the lights, without stopping the motor.
Since I just started, I can change direction without any problems.
-JJ
PS Rod. Thank you. Partyman is still helping me to sort this out.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
I will help you, please list what fixtures you have and what quantity of each. Also, unless you just desire to do so there is not reason to stop the mirror motor. Just plug it in to a regular outlet and let it spin (have a couple motors that have been spinning almost constantly for 20 years). If you have dmx diagram for each fixture that would help.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
Awesome, thank you. I really appreciate it. I have another moving head fixture and I'm going to build it with Fixter creator next. I'll let you know how that goes.

Do all of your fixtures operate the way they are supposed to on all channels(do fixture files work 100%)?

Try this file and see how things work. Please update fixture addresses as they were changed

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
It worked! Sweet. What did you do? LOL
One thing I noticed, in my setup, when I am adjusting the dimmer is the little circle with the line (Not Recorded) does not change. However, with your setup, it changes to Fade as soon as I move the Dimmer slider. I did see that you use the Dark Theme (cool) and a different DMX interface. I set up FreeStyler for my UltraDMX and all worked.
Nice setup BTW.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
It works.
I restored your backup, added my fixtures and everything worked fine.
Then I reset everything and copied all your settings, added my fixtures and it works. I'm going to finish adding the rest of my fixtures and see if I run into any problems.
The reason I put everything on the Chauvet dimmer is so I can turn the "lights" off, let the fans run to cool the lights down, and then have FreeStyler turn it completely off, after 15 minutes. This is in my 2nd bedroom and with the computers and all the electronics, it tends to get warm.
I'll keep you updated.
Thank you again.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
No problem, glad to help. You should be able to take the sequences i made as templates for you to open, make changes and "save as"
I also made startup values so the lights should be blue and green at startup

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
The main difference is you were programming in "static" mode. You can read the wiki to understand the difference (the setting is in the sequence creator window)

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
Thank you for the templates.
I've read the wiki and a few forum posts. It has been a struggle to wrap my head around everything. But I'll keep reading until it all makes sense.
When I last ran a light show we had a touch board, each channel had two buttons. One to turn the light or motor on / off, the second button one could tap out a beat with the lights. We also had a light that spun, tapping it slowly, I could get it to spin like a slow mirror ball while taping out a beat to Madonna's "Justy My Love." Man, we had a blast. I had rewired the nightclub lighting. The manager gave me my break into DeeJaying. I was hanging out in the DeeJay booth when he looked at me and said, "So you want to be a DJ?" He slapped me on the back and said, "It's yours, walked out the door, and left me there, by myself."
Last summer, I bought a Rockville Lighting Controller. I did a little programming and then found FreeStyler.

Re: FreeStyler Doesn't Save Dimmer Setting
This has something to do with "Link sliders with channel functions". Just unchecked it and my sequences are saving the dimmer setting.
