synching freestyler to a korg electribe drum machine
hey hey hey. before i dump a huge long super detailed post on you all about my ideas for this, i was curious if anyone else here runs a drum machine live, and uses the midi in some way to trigger scenes in freestyler. i kind of want to ramble a bit with fellow users who have experience with midi and what not first. a lot of ideas in my head, and i do not want to waste anyones time. thanks for your time in advance. chris.

Re: synching freestyler to a korg electribe drum machine
so since i made this post, i have made a bit of headway on how i can do this live and have it not be a real pain in my ass. so in a nutshell, my signal path is going to be mid out from my drum machine, into my computer, into ableton, and then im using a virtual midi out to go from ableton out into freestyler. im going to have a small midi keyboard to turn on and off midi tracks, and only have the one active for the song im running, and in theory, it should run perfectly in sync, and i can assign my notes from the drum machine to be the trigger for sequences via midi, i think. this is where i think it can get mucky, because of the different notes used per song, so i think im going to delve into midi filters next in ableton, so that i can just pick shit, and make it all work for one light, if that makes sense. im having all these nutty ideas also with running arpeggiators on the notes, making the lights freak out, but be perfectly in synch. i could even control that. fun shit. there goes my weekend. ha

Re: synching freestyler to a korg electribe drum machine
so i am having a f of a time getting this to work for some reason. has anyone here done any like fairly advanced midi mapping stuff, where you are using another computer sending out midi notes to freestyler, and triggered lights stuff? i cannot for the life of me figure out who this is not working.
i have a drum machine sending out specific notes, and i am going into freestyler, and mapping them to stuff, and i just cannot get it to trigger anything. i am positive after much trouble shooting that the notes are actually getting from my desktop to my laptop running freestyler. help? i need to chat someones ear off
