Ok,
So here is the situation.
I am preparing for a Dance Production at a Town Hall.
Here is my Rig :
T Stand 1:
4 x 5 Channel RGB LED Par
4 x 500w QI Floodlights (On a 4 Channel Dimmer)
T Stand 2:
4 x 5 Channel RGB LED Par
4 x 500w QI Floodlights (On a 4 Channel Dimmer)
Additional:
2 x OBY600U Moving Head Stage Wash
1 x 3 Channel DMX Red/Green Laser
1 x 700w Smoke Machine (Modified to work on a Nova Gate Remote)
Controllers:
1 x Chauvet Stagedesigner 50
1 x Chauvet Optical Splitter
1 x UDMX Interface running on Freestyler on a laptop.
The Town Hall has about 16 LED Par Cans, that they are running off 2 x StageDesigner 50's. I do not know why they are using 2 desks, maybe they are addressing each fixture individually. That I will only be able to tell on the setup date.
I am a strong believer in having 1 control system for something like these performances (it is just easier) that is why I would like to rather run the whole setup (my rig and the halls lighting) from Freestyler, Instead of using their 2 desks.
Also, I would prefer not to change the dips on all their LED Par cans (which I would then also have to change back in the short tear-down time afterwards)
What I was wondering is if I could patch my rig into Freestyler, so that I can program cues and sequences for it now. Then when I get to the venue, I can see what addressing they use, and if it conflicts with my setup in freestyler, if I can change the addresses for MY rig in freestyler. Then on setup day, I can program the cues for the halls lighting.
Basically, If I create a full show with cues and sequences, and then later I go to the Assignments in Freestyler, and change a fixtures address, will it break the programming already done for that fixture?
Thanks
Peter
Can I readdress fixtures safetly?

Re: Can I readdress fixtures safetly?
no such luck! The programming is tied 100% to the DMX channels. Your only option would be to know what all of their fixture addresses are and program freestyler around that. The stage designer is only a 48 channel board so anything you program fro 50-512 should be completely independent from the installed lighting. Because they are using two of the hardware controllers you can bet that it is the exact same config x2.

My advice would be to pre-program everything else now, beforehand, then on setup day, just do some simple RGB chases and anything else you need. It then shouldn't be an issue for you.
Keep your head clear, ask everyone to leave you alone for 5 mins when setup and program! Simples!
