Master Fade with 4 and 6 channel LED Pars

Post by hammtech »

Hey Everyone,

I have a small LED show that has 8 PAR 56 LEDs and 8 PAR 36 LEDs - The PAR 56s are 6 channels and the PAR 36s are 4 channel. Everything works great so far, I can control the lights and make them do what they need to be doing - BUT, if I use the master intensity fader to fade out (or fade in) the lights, the fade rate is different on the different fixtures. I know that this is the result of the 4 channel LEDs only having 128 intensity steps where the 6 channels have 256, but is there any mechanism that will compensate for this so they fade in and out at the same rate?

Thanks

Hi,

I actually made them myself (the fixture files, not the lights ;))

They are just simple 4 and 6 channel LED pars with channel 1 as intensity, and 2,3 and 4 as RBG. The 4 channel intensity is from 0-127 on ch1, the rest of it from 128-255 is the strobe. The 6 channel has 0-255 as intensity on CH1 with 5 being the strobe and CH6 being the fade rate. I set up the fixtures with the strobes although I doubt that I would ever use them.

So when I have a scene that contains both types of lights, and I use the master fader to fade them out, the four channels turn off later than the 6 channels and they turn on sooner when fading in. The also reach full brightness sooner as well.

The only way I can see fixing this is to make the 4 channels 'double the count' from 0-127 so that each value will be doubled but it will have the same number of intensity steps as a fixture that uses the full 0-255 scale for intensity - i.e stretch out the intensity range of the 4 channels to match the fade in/out times of the 6 channels.

hi i made a Fixture my self but it works perfect at my side..

i have one fixture with a Intensitie 255 and the other 127..

if i drag the master intnensitie to
100% i get 255 and 127
0% i get 0 and 0
50% i get 127 and 63

i uploaded my version of the 4 channel ledpar..
so you can take a look at it..

Thanks Spirit,

I'll take a look at it and see what I am doing wrong. Maybe the resolution is off on my fixtures.
