Gobo out of sync

Post by matreltub »

I have an Entec Pro with 2 Acrobats, and 2 MX-1's and all work well apart from if I change the gobo wheel on the MX-1's quickly it sometimes gets stuck half way and sometime ends up being 1 gobo out and remains 1 gobo out until the fixture is reset.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The lights behave fine with one in master and one slave to music trigger, and when I use a hardware controller?

Thanks

This has indeed nothing to do with FreeStyler or any other soft- or hardware controller.
It's a "bug" in the firmware of the MX-1: the gobo/color wheel can get out of sync if the DMX values for that channel changes rapidly. Some other Martin fixtures had similar problems and were solved by reducing the maximum effect speed for gobo/color wheels in future firmware's. I don't think that firmware of the MX-1 can be upgraded by the user.
What you can check yourself, if you're a bit technical, is if the wheel can turn freely if the fixture is powered off.
Does it slide against another part?

If not, just avoid making fast changes on the gobo/color wheel channel.

Greetz.

However, I have a Mojo Scan I, and i have made sure all of the gobo wheel DMX values are set correctly on the Fixture Creator (which they are) and still, when i click on the gobo's on FreeStyler, they end up being one gobo out of sync. I will check that the gobo wheel can rotate freely with power off (which i believe it does anyway).

Will update in a bit once I have checked my gobo wheel, and then checks whether it goes out of sync when changing them slowly, and then quickly.

Have checked my Scanner, and it does it all the time from FreeStyler, i remember i tried changing the fixture file to compensate, but all it did was move the 'out of sync'ness further along the gobo wheel. Odd.
