Beginner simple question

I am just starting to use lights and have a Velleman controller and Win 7 OS. I noticed that at times I lose control over a Am DJ Mega Par Profile - which I am using to experiment with. When I clock back on the fixture sometimes I get control again - other times I do not - and have to use the find fixture command to get it back. Is there something I am doing to cause this - or is this some sort of problem with the controller box or computer?

find fixture command never seen that..

but i know the Velleman Dongle is not the most stable on.
on the interweb i think you can find some other Firmware for is so it runs more stable..

i allways say the USB->DMX dongle is the most importent part for you lighting setup so dont get the Cheapest one !!!

but the most used DMX dongle is the Enttec pro its the most Stable on out there.
the last year DMXking pro is the populuair one becuase it Cheaper then the Enttec pro but it works on the same FTDI chip, and it can be used with the enttec pro Drivers..

Thank you so much ... I will try the DMXKing - as I already ordered it LOL - but if I have the same issues - I will step it up. Still also learning Chauvet's Obey 70 and another controller. Trying to determine which is better to use. Any suggestions?

I am using the enttec pro and have had zero issues with it.....don't skimp out on this critical piece.

hi

i also used a Couple of Controllers.
From a ZERO88 XL to Scanmaster and some other cheap, useless Devices, if you ask me...
they are all not better then FS

i also used the Avolight "Tiger", "2000" "Expert" (Classic mode and Titan mode)
you can compaire it with FS, there are allot of thing Way better and other are less better.
only you need at least 2000/3000 Euro/Dollar for the cheapst one..
