Enttc Open DMX 8 Universe with Pixel Controls!

Post by michilson »

Hello Freestyler Developers...

I am requesting a major Expansion / Upgrade to the FreeStyler Software. Lets start with what I hope is the easier one then I can explain what and why!

First let me say I like this software Congrats to all you guys who help to develop this.

So what I am Looking for is a 8 Universe ability. I think within the Setup for Freestyler there could be a Multi-Universe Page. Within that it defaults 1 universe to what ever controller you have setup. Then Below that we add 1-let say 20 not that we would ever use that many but who knows.

Then you plug in your USB to DMX dongle one at a time and it Grabs the next Universe. (First is universe 1 second is universe 2 and so on) (Or as you plug them into the computer via USB hub you assign a Com-Port to the Universe.

Then within the fixture setup library we Add how ever many tabs to the Fixture address window for how ever many universes we have. We can then drag fixtures over to each universe.

all fixtures still show up on the main screen but will be controlled on different universe via the Dongle setup mentioned above.

That should address most of the control side of the issue now lets address the updates to the Pixel Area.
I'd like to see a better control interface here. Lets see more animations, Ability to link in video files or pictures and Scrolling Text. I know some of these features exist but can we give them a little more power. And a more user friendly interface.

Now I'd also like the ability to Create several matrix and have them linked together with a solid effect or even divide them with separate effects.

So by now you should see where this is headed. I have 4 panels with 170 nodes. 10 x 17 with 3ch RGB LED 170 x 3 = roughly about 512 channels of DMX (This is per panel) This is the reason for the Multi Universe setup! And with all 4 panels linked together to be able to create impressive LED matrix would be amazing.

Now with the expansion of Technology Both Chauvet Lighting and American DJ lighting are pressing forward fast with this Pixel Matrix Technology. The other industry expanding quickly into the Pixel lighting market is the Christmas Display lighting. I have been looking for 2 days and have not found any software that can handle both driving a Large LED Pixel Matric Array on Multiple universe and still retain it's usability for doing Standard DMX control of theater lighting. I hope this will convince you of both the need and necessity of these options into this software package. I look forward to many more years of great development. Thanks. Michael

What you have to remember that it's one guy that makes the software, so with due respect 8 Universes is a bit much at the moment and in the near future. It's not had 2 Universe software released yet and we've been waiting for this for a while, but this is understandable when it's one guy who is the developer.

I'm afraid if your looking for that kind of thing, you'll have to buy software or a lighting desk. But off the top of my head I can only thing of one piece of software that controls maximum of 6 Universes, I've never come across anything bigger on software yet. But if your getting up to that size you really need a lighting desk to cope better with it as you can have better control than a pc, I personally believe.
