Com port query with DMX - USB interface

Post by chriswattsuk »

Hi guys. I have installed FreeStyler and have inserted my USB - DMX interface (Eurolite Dmx Usb Pro-512). At the point of selecting my interface in Freestyler I am asked which Com port the interface is connected to.

When I go to Device Manager, there is no "Ports (COM & LPT)" node in Device Manager - which most of the help guides seem to point to as being the place to find out / change the COM port.

At the minute I do not know which (if any) com port is being used by my interface.

Also, do I need to install the drivers from Eurolite, or does Freestyler comes prepped with everything it needs to support that interface?

Finally - I am using Windows 8 - does this make a difference?

Hey,

I would always make sure you have the latest drivers installed from the developer of the actual interface, then see if it works.

This was a simple case of not having the required driver installed. When I installed it I got the required section in Device Manager and was able to identify the com port in use.
