Moving to a new Laptop [Solved]

Post by RoySlough »

Hi, I have freestyler installed with all my lighting DMX settings (this includes some fixtures I have had to manually create myself.)

What is the best way to transfer all this to a new laptop?

Do I make a new installation then copy some files (which ones?) to the new system
Or can I copy the program folders (including sub-folders)

Thank you

I've done this in my virtual machine for testing, do a backup of your current system, install freestyler on your new system, then use the restore, everything should come in like nothing ever happened.

I usually just copy the whole FS folder from one C drive to another and it works perfectly everytime.

Always test a backup you have made first before removing the old installation as I have had corrupt backups before (there was an ongoing bug report I believe)

Backups are more convenient but like people have said usually just copying FS directory works too...
