MIDI control on 2 specific channels?

Post by djferken »

Hi there again!

If I have a strobe, and I want to control that strobe with a MIDI controller, how would I go about that?

Maybe like this:

Button 1: Blackout on/off
Rotary 1: Strobe Intensity/dimmer
Rotary 2: Strobe Speed

Is that possible?

FS has a large range of actions that can be controlled by midi signals from a midi device but I don't think it will allow you to control the individual channels of a single fixture. You can always create a number of single step sequences of strobe actions that you like (eg medium strobe medium intensity, fast strobe medium intensity etc) and assign the to an override button. These overrides can then in turn be assigned to a key on your midi device or key on your keyboard (ie keyboard shortcut).

If you have the strobe on a fixed channel then you can use the "midi to DMX".
It is one of the external controls that midi can access and if I recall correct then you define which dmx channel to control.

Well finally.

I don't know how your fixture are created but if you look in the external control list http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... l_commands then there is a Shutter faded and a intensity fader.
They correspond to the same faders in the lamp panel.
