Fixture types

Post by gothambeat »

can someone explain to me the difference between the various fixture type files?

1) In freestyler, there are two files for each fixture *.fxt; *.gif. In addition if you import/export a *.pff is created.

I can guess that the PFF is some sort of combination file but I really get thrown when I look at the Easyview software.

It seems that there are two disctinctly different sets of fixtures. Freestyler has one set and all the Easyview have the filetype *.SSL.

Does it matter that the two are different? Also, I see that easyview has some fixtures that Freestyler does not have. is there an easy way to convert the easyview *.SSL files to the freestyler format?

Thanks

FS and Easyview are made entirely by separte people/companys so if you make a fixture in FS if you want to use it in easyview you have to make one in easyview separetly. No conversion availible unfortunaetly :-(

Thanks,

along the same lines. If I setup my fixtures in Freestyler and I open up my easyview and create my setup with the same fixtures, is there a 'patch' similar to the Freestyler to Martin LJ to get easyview to work correctly and respond to the freestyler changes?

if u setup easy the same as fs then fs should work in fs just as if the lights were running infront of you, i.e. run a cue you'll see it in easy, or while programming you'll see how 'your' lights behave

.fxt is the freestyler fixture file.
.gif is an image file used to display the fixture in freestyler.
.pff is a exported file of freestyler fixtures which contains the.fxt and the .gif files (this should always be used for exporting)

easyview have its own set of extensions for there fixture files, gobos
