Best Ideas for FS Control in a Live Show

Hi, Thanks to everyone who has helped me out in the past two weeks to get to the stage I am in learning FS. So now I am at the stage of looking how to best set up and display FS on a screen to control a live busking show.

I have read of the various ways of controlling the fixtures i.e. submasters, cue window, cue buttons and the right had fixture sliders.

My question now is what have people found to be the best way to set up for a live show. I have gone through some good tutorials and the best so far split movements, colours, gobos etc into seperate submaster sequences/cues.

I would be very interested to know how others actually use FS in a live situation for control. Some screenshots and explanations would be extremely useful......??

Hi

first, the right had fixture sliders are not realy to use all the time during playback.
these are made to make correctios durring playback and they will be maked as a Manual Override.

But i use the Submaster for Live control becasue you have all the differnt Fixture attributes on a Differnt SM and you can create many differnt looks. but this also means you allways need to be behind the lighting desk.

as i also made a Lightpc with touchscreen for a Friend of my how owns a Paintball centre and he liked to have a System so he just need to press ONE button and the Show begins. also he liked to have some extra Buttons to Move the Scans to a Specific postion and i also added all the Gobo and Color so if he get crazy of the Color/Gobo loop i made he just needed to press a Button and he gets the Color/gobo he want.
that why i used to Cuelist buttons for this situation.

i will add a show i made for the fun.
but not everything seems to work on 3.4.8 because i made the show with the latest Beta from the devolper.

also before you open the Cue /submasters dont forget to First OPEN the shutter from all the moves.
and i add sequences to the Submaster en override buttons.

Hi Spirit, thanks again. I will have a look at your show tonight and try to work out how you set up things and why.

I dont quit understand what you mean by open the shutter on all fixtures. Do you mean go through each one seperately and do this....??

Also if you were controlling a show via the submasters and you had say 3 or 4 fixtures working, is there any way you can turn them all off or on together etc. A master for example.....??

My first show is on Sep 29th so working my spare time towards this. Its a charity event and I really do not want to let anyone down !!!

hi
i means is before you open the Cue/submaster you need to OPEN the SHUTTER from all the Movingheads.
so select all 40 MH and open the Lamp window and Press on OPEN.
otherwise you dont have light from the fixture.
then you can open the Cue/submaster window.

Hi Spirit, I got the time to load your shows and have a look last night. Unfortunately I could not do much with them as I think I have found a weakness in my home PC. As soon as I run EV everything slows up to the extent that I can hardly even control a mouse and the side sliders take up to 10 secs to fully show.

I think I will need to get a RAM upgrade.......??

hi you can also try something else before you buy some new stuff for your pc.

Go to EV on the topright side you see "Options" press on it.
set Shadows OFF
and Resolution on minimum.

it also runs slow if i enable the shadows and have the resolution on maximum.
allthough i have a PC that can Run the Newest games on ULTRA high graphics.
Amd FX6100 = 6x3.3GHZ Hexacore + 8gb DDR3/ ATI 6870x2 - 2GB

Hi Spirit, you are without doubt a guru. I have managed to get it down to a level that I can use EV efficiently..... it was the resolution as shadows were turned off.......thanks very much !!!

The examples of your shows you shared are very impressive. Is that your own rig....??

I am visiting Den Helder next month for work reasons but if you fancy a beer I owe you one or two !!!!!!

Unfortunately this isnt my Lighting Rig
But its a Stage from a Festival i have been.
i realy liked they way how they set it up.
so i just recreated it and it good for me so i also can Programm BIG show.
Just te learn how to do it. some new sequences i normaly never use.

OK, nearly there and just a few tips needed for using either Cue, override buttons and submasters.

Firstly when setting up themes on the buttons in the cue master when switching between themes I get all the sequences running at once, is there any way of turning this off so I can switch between themes and only have on those I have triggered.

Second question please, can I on a live show switch between cue master and submaster and which setting takes priority.

Last and not least on override buttons I dont really understand what I can set on them. I have tried a few sequences but the buttons only allow the first sequence and no more, is that how they are supposed to operate...??

As I said, nearly there and first gig on Sep 29th to just trying to refine stuff now. I could just set up cue master with a number of sequences but dont really like not having the ability to change the fixtures attributes to suit the mood on a live show.

Above the Cuelist buttons you have a "COG" Wheel press on it and Enable "Load Cue Only"

I'm not sure if this is Possible But if it will work Then it will work as LTP ( Latest takes precedence)
But this will Works with each Sequence line Seperated so if you start SM1 it with takes Precedence on Sequence 1 on the CUE and on....

yes this is normal.
i use them as Color/Gobo/Goborot/Prism/Prismrot/Strobe/iris/Pulse/Flash buttons
Because these are Static values with Only One step.
