Moving head colors not changing in 3D

Post by neils »

My American DJ fixture file is setup properly on both sides. In 3D, color is defined on channel 3, and then divided into the individual colors per DMX range. Same for FS side. When I go to change the color on FS side, I see the color change under the fixture icon (changes work fine for gobos as well). But on the 3D side, even though the colors are setup and defined in the fixture file, the beam remains white. Any reason why the color changes would not take place in 3D?? I have been over the fixture file in 3D several times, but the color icons are there, so just not seeing where the issue could be.

Thanks for your time

hi

3d View has been a Pain in the @@s the last years ( thats my opinion)
but now they have released a newer version and i LOVE it.
the only problem is that most of the Fixture files does not seem to work.
you need to Recreate the fixtiure file on the Scanlib to let it work ok again.
i also did this and it work Perfect now.

That is the frustrating part. I did open the fixture file using the ScanLibrary editor, and made sure my color channel was well defined, with the appropriate color icons. I am assuming that once you have the correct color icon identified within the DMX value range, that should be enough to trigger the color when that value is hit. But still does not work. Only thing left to do is build the fixture file from scratch, rather than edit the existing one, although I am not hopeful that will work.

Are you saying that this is what you did ?? You tried the existing file, with colors defined, did not work, then you rebuilt the file from scratch, and colors finally worked ??

ahh i was searching for the word Scratch.

but i did begin from scratch and it worked perfect after the fixture was finished.
yes editing a existing fixture will not work.

Alright, will do that then (recreate the fixture file from scratch). Thanks a lot Spirit, so nice to see helpful folks like yourself on here, makes it easier for others.

One thing I noticed when trying to recreate the fixture file in ScanLibrary is that for gobos, you cannot check off "rotating gobo" and "gobo shake" together for each gobo entry in that gobo channel, it's either one or the other. How did they define both previously ???

Spirit, you were absolutely correct man. Took me a while to rebuild the moving head fixture file from scratch in ScanLibrary editor, but as soon as I added the new fixture file into EasyView, my color changes finally showed up in there. Thanks man !!! Really appreciate it. Feel sorry for everyone else who will be hacking away at EasyView like I did, trying to get color changes on existing fixture files...

I have Trackspots set up in Easyview. They've pretty much never shown any color. All of the colors are in the Scanlib color channel, but the DMX value is off by a couple of numbers. Same goes for the gobo channel. One of these days I'll fix it. All of my other fixtures render correctly. Go figure.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
