Hi,
I've been building DMX USB interfaces for a hobby for a short while and have been using the FT232BM devices with no trouble, which are now no longer made (they stopped making that one a while back), but I have now switched to a newer version of their chip which is the FT230X but I have some issue with freestyler.
When I try to use the interface with freestyler it will send data for 1-3 seconds then no more data passes. I found this to be the same with a few more of the same interfaces I put together. I also checked the interfaces with various terminal interfaces and other software and it performs correctly.
I have tried updating to the latest version of Freestyler with no avail.
Anyone have any idea? or is it just a matter of waiting for the newer FTDI chips to be supported?
Many thanks

Re: Issues with newer FT230X USB interfaces
Is your host an OS X machine?
I'm seeing the same issue with the new FTDI (FT230X) chip but for a different application. The solution was to greatly reduce the data rate which is a killing our throughput.
Have you contacted FTDI support?
