Hi all,
I've been lurking a little lately and I'm new to the whole dmx thing. I have a couple of dmx fixtures (2x Lexlighting TriLex and an Elation Octopod) and I'll get more over time - neither of what I have are on the list so far as I can see and I'm quite happy to get building, but before that I'll need some advice on where to start...
It looks like the trilex is one of those rebadged 3-mirror led units which appear under lots of brand names so it might be that it has been done already under another name. I've only got vague specs for it and nothing on the website. But the dmx info it lists is Mirrors (1,2,3) Pattern Speed (4) LED Control (5,6,7) Rotating Pattern Speed (8), so if nothing else I'll need some help in working out how to work out what the led controls mean and how to make them useful.
Then the octopod is a bit odd too. It has 8 RGB LED lamps which run on blocks of 6 channels (from 6 to 48) depending on how the unit is configured. So would you recommend that I create one fixture for each configuration (6,12,24,48 channel) or do I just make one 6-channel and leave it to users to dial in the right number of fixtures depending on what mode they choose?

I have one already to go for the trilex see my attachment, this is how I like mine setup suits my purpose but will give you a good idea
