Hi,
I'm looking for a freestyler version (or patch) that supports running from a USB Stick.
I already installed freestyler on my stick but it says that he need the files msflxgrd.ocx, MSWINSCK.OCX, MSCOMM32.OCX, hirestimer.ocx, fsled.ocx, fsledr.ocx.
I copied them from my Windows folder, but than freestyler says: ActiveX component can't create object.
Please help!.
Greetings,
Dave

Ow yes, if possible I need it upcoming monday!!

i believe they need to be in the system32 folder of windows all tho from previous programming knowledge the program will look for these files if there actually in the same directory as freestyler first so if windows\system32 doesnt work try program files\freestyler Good luck!!!!!!

I already found the files, the point is that we're speaking about registy files.
The program talks en hears from it. So just coping them will not work.
Maybe somebody could create a mini installer for the registery files?

job done! why cant u add the installer to you stick tho?? i can create one should u need one but why not wack the installer on there and install files from stick

The only reason I can think of that you don't want to use the installer, is that because you don't have the user rights to install the software on the machine you will be using.
Ergo, a registry patch won't work. You won't have the rights to make the modifications necessary in the windows registry.
And until a selfcontained version of FS is released, there is nothing we can do.
For these cases, I carry around a 8mb big ISO burned to a cd that fixes the account rights issue on XP/ME. Just pop it in, let it boot up, and see the magic work.

I don't want to add the installer to my stick because I sometimes haven't got the time to install it..
AND, some computers where I want to use it on remove everything after a reboot..
A small installer for the registy stuff sounds nice, it will only take a few seconds. But not every computer is very fast..

Like LJ Exodus says you may need permissions I'll sort registry for u later today.
even tho adding the Active X controls to the freestyler directory in my mind should work have u tried it?

Heres another idea.
Use Virtual PC from microsoft. i am sure there is a why that you can run that portably. this way you run your OWN pc. OR 2nd option. Use BART PE to compile a WINDOWS live cd. Put cd in Computer and Boot. Bam your Copy of windows running. As for fixture creating etc, Tell it to run those of a flash Drive.

1)
Copy all the necessary DLL's to the USB stick using directory: DLL
(Example: Copy DLL's to G:\DLL\)
2)
Create TXT file
3)
Paste the txt between the lines:
---------------------------------------------
copy *:\DLL **:\Windows\System32
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\msflxgrd.ocx
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\MSWINSCK.OCX
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMM32.OCX
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\hirestimer.ocx
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\fsled.ocx
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\fsledr.ocx
---------------------------------------------
*) Where * is the drive letter of your USB stick.
**) Where ** is the drive letter of your Windows Installation.
PS. Use WINNT instead of Windows for Windows NT/2K.
4)
Save as:
Using "File Name = dllinstall.bat"
Using "Save as type = All Files"
Hope this helps!
"DJ Support Says = include the quotes or notepad will save the file as dllinstall.bat.txt oh and once thats done dont forget to double click the file to execute it!"
"LJ Exodus Says = Quotes aren't necessary. Just select when saving, Save as Type = All Files"
DJ Support
thats never worked for me....! "Lol"

Are you sure you are doing it right?
Because this way it's done most of the time.
(Or at least, it's the way I've been taught.

(Using notepad also ensures you get a correct ASCII text file, which is necessary for batch files.)

i was trying to edit php or xml in notpad and could not get anything to save so i went in searcjh of answers and i first came up with Wrap in quotes ""
LJ Exodus
Heh, to be honest, I didn't know 'bout the quotes.

DJ Support
well u can try it lol it works!!
LJ Exodus
Having problems using it on long .bat's that are used in boot seqs.
Think it has something to do with the fact that you are letting notepad encode it in an txt format, and then hardforcing it into using an .bat extension.
(basicly just renaming the extension.)
Dunno why the probs occur, so I'll just stick to my old ways.

No probs though on small .bat's.
To get back on topic:
Did the "patch" work for you, Davej0h?
DJ Support
we could "go at this all week.bat" lol
geez that was a long topic, DJ Support and LJ_Exodus, you guys talt too much
