Post by CutDMX12 »

Hi,

My mate has an Enttec DMX USB Pro interface and he has been using Light Factory for a year and is still have problems with it crashing during a live show....

Now I have installed FreeStyler on the PC (witch has no internet access) and added the 141 Dimmers but then when I go and tell FreeStyler what interface is in use I can't seam to get it right....

I did select the "Enttec PRO" as the picture was the closes but I don't know what com it is??? As I don't think USB's us the COM port......

So what do I need to set FreeStyler too to get it working????

Thanks for any help

USB can be a com port. Connect the Enttec Pro to the computer. Right click on My Computer, then Properties, Hardware Tab, Device Manager. Under Ports you will find the the usb serial connection and in parenthesis you will see what port it's using (example-COM3). Back in Freestyler goto Setup and select the same com port (com 3) as you saw in Device Manager. Click Save. The lil green led light on the dongle should be blinking now. Your connected and ready to start having fun!

 I have finally just got my self ONE

Works like a dream however.... I can't help to notice that on the dimmer racks that the DMX status light is a flashing differently... after re-plugging in my old DMX box the DMX LED was indeed flashing differently...

Now I don't know but I think that might be telling me that the DMX + and - pins are reversed... but the lights still work = “I’m ok with" however it is driving me mad since when I plug in my 4 scanners all of the lights start to dim down then up in small groups randomly....

Now I sure this box can run more then the 35 channels I just managed to get with my old box...

I have tried different scanners and cables all with the same affect… I am in the process of making a cable that will reverse the data + and – to the right way… “Hoping that will fix it” and putting in a DMX splitter/booster…

Have any of you had a problem close to this? Or have any trouble shooting ideas that I can try…

If needed I can post below what/how I have rigged everything… but any ideas you can give me I will much appreciate it.

Thanks

No.
Also I don't really believe its a polarity issue.

Try to set the refresh rate as fast as possible (20 ms - from the head).
Maybe your USB bus provides a weak power source. Try putting in a active(!) USB hub. Thats one with its own power source. (Meaning: not using the power source from your computer).
