Custom Color Palettes?

Post by Bigtoddy »

Hey all, first post. Groovin Lumens From The American Northeast. Loving the software, muddling through nicely. This has been a great challenge as this is the first 'advanced deck' I've worked with and the learning curve has been steep and rewarding.
Presently I'm running a portable stage setup consisting of 12 LED wash cans. I love the color palette, but I find that a lot of the intermediate colors get muddy. I like to stick to the major 7 colors, taking advantage of 0% or 100% for each or the RGB values.
So how can I make a palette with only these 7 colors?

2 ways I can think of on a rainy sunday evening:
1. Create 7 sequences, each with just one step where you only configure the color, add the sequences to the override buttons for use and give them a corresponding name.
2. Adapt the fixture profile and configure 7 macros creating your colors.

I'd suggest to just start with the first option.

Hi, thanks. I do have sequences on my buttons, and that works great in a live setting. The macros I haven't played with yet, but it may work. Instead of going to the traditional color palette, I can go to the macros when I'm doing my programming? Sounds like a plan, I'll try it out.

Not just trough programming. You can also access the macros during live shows. If you have a fixture with macros programmed to, a macro window will be enabled (just like color/gobo/and so on windows).

I set these macros up, I'd like to be able to hotkey to macros. Macro 1, Macro2, etc for whatever fixture is selected. Then you can stack colors, ie. Rd is always macro 1, then set a hotkey button so that all you do is select any fixture and you have colors at your fingertips. Not bad? Any better way to do this? Seems to me setting sequences for this would be difficult.
