Patch fixtures

Post by rick_v »

Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if freestyler has an option to patch one fixture to multiple dmx channels. e.g.: I have one par in my fixture list (on channel one for example) and i would like to patch it to channels one and two.

Does anybody know this is possible with freestyler? I already discovered the patch tab in the config options but i can only patch to one other channel.

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Rick

Hey Rick

let me see if I completely understand you because i can get the patch feature to work for my purposes

for example. you want channel 2-10 to be the same as channel 1? then you just write channel 1 in channel 2-10 in the patch window. so that should be possible. Or am I missing the point in your question?

another way is to use the clone feature (right click on a fixture you want to be "slave", select "Clone fixture..." and select the "master" fixture.
NOTE: this only work when you playback sequences in the cue window and submasters. so i think you should try the first method I mentioned.

If you can't get it to work, as again :)

Your example was exactly what i was trying to accomplish and it worked! In my first try (before posting on this forum) i checked my settings with the output viewer, but unfortunately it did not show the change in value.

Thanks for your reply!

Why not simply address all fixtures that should do the same to the same DMX start address?

That's the most easy way but i have a special purpose..

We use freestyler for nightclub lighting and we have a fixed setup. Normally i want all parcans to run in chase but occasionally we have a band or singer. Then i want to use some of the parcans to light out the podium. When i use the patch mode i can manually de-patch and use the parcans, otherwise i will have to go up and change the address.

I hope this explains 'the why'.

Yes, taht explains the why. I still thougt you wil have a good reason to use the patch :D

But I think for completlynes it is good if the simple solution is here as well. So someone else searching for this topic will find it.
