Any success with Elation Compu 1024EC? MTC?

Post by sunspotwendy »

Has anyone successfully run FreeStyler in conjunction with the Elation Compu 1024EC USB-to-DMX interface?

I'm currently running it with the Compu Live software, but having issues with MIDI Time Code, so I'm looking at other lighting software.

Thanks in advance for any responses! :)

Looking at the interface on the Elation website I would try the either of the Sunlite interfaces in "FreeStyler Setup>Interface" as the picture looks like it is a sunlite interface and software.
It might not work as they change the firmware to stop it working with other software sometimes.

Thanks for the tip, Onge, I will give that a try!

Do you happen to know if FreeStyler accepts MIDI Time Code as an input?

FS will respond to midi control. You need to set fs up to respond in the way you want. It may not be as straight forward as you want but you can easily trigger cues in FS with midi signals.

Cool, thanks dmxlighting!

I haven't had good success with Compu Live and MTC- it looks like I may be forced to use the MIDI triggering method in there too. But I'd certainly like to try it with FreeStyler too!

Another newbie question: Is there a way to create a light show along with an MP3 (timeline format)? Compu Live has an "Easy Show" feature that creates a timeline- it looks a lot like typical video/audio editing software, with different tracks, etc. This is a nice feature that would be great for the project I'm working on.

As I do not know what version of the Sunlite Suite your software is based on I cannot help much with the MTC. Not that I am much help with Sunlite Suite, I find it nearly impossible to use. DMX Interface is good though.

You can go to the Sunlite website at http://www.nicolaudie.com/ and from there have a look in the Support>Software Manuals then from along the top select Sunlite Suite then from the menu on left open Advanced programming and open External triggering then MIDI - Midi Time Code (MTC).

I know you have to go into the page settings and select Synchro in the External action and triggering and then select Time Code In.

Hope that helps.

no, Freestyler does not have that feature. you can enter timestamps when you want a sequence to go actiove but it is not in sync with MP3.
