As you can see by my signature, I'm still using version 3.0.1. It seems very stable for me.

Should I update to the newest version of Freestyler? Do the newer versions of Freestyler use more CPU resources?
I think one can answer that question with no. Maybe the newer versions even use less CPU resourses. One big CPU saver is the new Sound to light module that replaced the old (very CPU intensive -> 100% in many cases) sound to light module. Since FreeStyler version 3.2 the new S2L module is installed by default. Having better beat detection and the beta's of the S2L module have many more extra's to play with.
So, if you are a user of the sound to light module, you'll have a benefit without a doubt if you upgrade.

Does anyone have any reviews about the newer versions? Are they working well?
As with any software package: every new version has its whims. Especially with initial new versions and beta's.
So thats why you should just try. Everyone is using FreeStyler his own way. That way problems do arise, or do not.
I think the current newer FreeStyler release versions are pretty good (>=3.2), better than previous releases. Together with other forum users we've pointed out quite a few problems that are solved. So, in general you could say: newer is better.
I LOVE Freestyler. I'm just afraid to update if it's working okay.
Just try. Don't forget to make a backup, test if you can restore (e.g. to another computer) before you install the new version. That way you are sure you are able to go back to your good old version if necessary. But I think you'll be happy with the new version...
