Daslight to FS transition

Post by richard csl »

I have for the last 4 years used Daslight, I am trying to get my head around the cue page / submaster thing , so here is my question.

How do you organise the cue pages / submasters ?

do you use the submasters per static cue , or per chase, or one per type of fixture. (I have 14 different fixture types over 2 shows)
do you use a cue page per song/set. or do you use a submaster page per song.

there are only a limited number of submasters. so can you reload the show half way through an start a fresh set.
but I gather the list of cue pages is endless so do you run a show from cue pages instead. just change a page per song.

I thought i could do it all with the buttons but as somebody pointed out when you use the cue buttons 1) there is no fade in . 2) every scene in the cue page is turned on together. Note I think only 99 cue pages is the max . in my current show i have over 134 cues for one part only. (show is in 3 parts.)

but then how do you do the following example.

scenario.
all heads start positions.
cue 1 fade up front of house (Moving heads)
cue 2 fade up 10 scanners on stage in red / white alternate. start with 2 in middle and work out (5 steps)
cue 3 start scanners moving in a circle
cue 4 move all scanners to one position on stage (guitar solo) including moving heads
cue 5 return to previous state (scanners circle)
cue 6 all fade to zero.

how would you create this on FS.

it could be nice with a cue stack feature.

for your example i will make a cuelist with the cues you have mentioned, and then run it from the cue window by presseing the current cue button for each change (remember to deactivate multiselect in the setup).

you can also use the submaster window, and press "Run" and "go" at each change.

regarding fade in... if you set your (first) step to fade, it will fade in/out. remember to set DMX channels (for intensity) you what to fade out to fade as well. if you select/deselect a cue button in the cue window the sequence will fade in/out. if you are quick you can control the fade time by using the bars with percentages in the cue window or the the master speed bar.

that's my suggestion, maybe there is someone else who has another idea?

[EDIT] maybe you can program the whole thing in one sequence (if you use shapes for all your movement chase) and then use the manual trigger button?
