What Interface Do you Use / Recomend?

People should avoid using the Velleman K8062/VM116 because of its internal speed limitations when using more and more DMX channels.

Maby we should use the DMX wiki for this or the FreeStyler Wiki... Create a Page with Interfaces, then a page for each interface with User Reviews...

I use Enttec Open Dmx, but i recomend the PRo version... some day i will buy one... if you want a non "professional" interface use the Open Dmx.

I have the Velleman K8062 (2) and a friend of mine has one. I bought them as a kits and put them togeather myself.

We both do lighting and have ever had a problem with these interfaces at all.

I have used mine in about 4 local theaters and in one of them I was using over 180 channels and had no problem with delays at all and that was one big chane from one to the other.

I have wote my own software for the interface but it is very basic and it does the job I need it to do.

The resion I have started to use freestyler as it has sound to light.

... yet. You were in luck or did'nt notice. That interface is just not a good one for larger setups.
Try running more channels, doing all kinds of stuff and then try to flash a strobe or par with an override button. You'll see it will take "a long" time (up to more than a second or so) before the light goes on, instead of immediately.
Search for posts from me about the VM-116 / K8062 (they are the same). Yours is'nt different.
Since you have no problem with delays at the moment, there is no reason to buy some other interface. But one day you wil... Then think back of what I posted here and just buy another interface.

I use a DMX4all stage pro MK 3 (MKII is listed here, update?) This is really plug and play, and only 119 euro!

I use MCSWE USB-DMX BOX.
It can work in any windows version (including 64-bit system), usb-hid device.
The interface sends DMX data speed is very fast. Never misses a beat.

ANY BODY HELP WITH THE DRIVER FOR MY DONGLE
WE HAVE NEW COMPUTER AND NEED THE DRIVER.
IN THE OLD COMPUTER THE SET UP USES UDMX FOR SET UP DRIVER
DONGEL HAS NO MANUFACTURE OR MODLEL ON IT
WORKS GREAT ON OLD COMPUTER NEED DRIVER TO PUT ON NEW COMPUTER

Updated, Now using DMX King eDMX2 and eDMX1 AS backup. They are awesome units. I can use these with any software that uses ArtNet.

DO NOT BUY CYL 6602 USB512 from China... there is at least one confirmed virus on the install disk and other files which of which windows finds suspicious... plus nothing works...

I've been readind forums and such for a day or two now....
Came up with theory, as long as dongle has FTDI chip not some kinda wanabe you are set to go?

Enttec open dmx uses one and few others as i noticed... So do one of those China cheapos I found but not the one I bought sadly...
Extra question, what people consider slow PC? It was mentioned in enttecs video about Open dmx and here as well... I am planing on dedicating my old laptop to this purpose only, 2ghz dualcore 4gb ram... Will it be considered slow for rendering dmx timings?

i bought a GUS and it does not work... if the FTDI chip is a replica, is there anyway to get it to work.... the first GUS i bought works great, but this second one is not recognized and the drivers will not even see the unit...
