Midi controlling - default note off value?

Post by hobbe »

I´m trying to get the midi-controlling from a DAW to work.

I use the RGB channels in freestyler ... As long as there´s a note, Freeestyler respondes to that notes velocity. But after the note has ended the value should be set to 0, but it gets a default value of 100-something.

one solution is to send a note with velocity '0' where i want the LED to be off. But there must be an easier way to do this?

Either in Freestyler, where i can set the default value to 0, or via a MIDI-off in cubase... The last way out is to automate the Logical editor in cubase to create a 0 velocity note between each "real Note"

Anyone know how to automatically send a Midi note OFF after a tone via in Cubase SX?

Any ideas???

Apart from this the controlling works fine. To bad i only can change RGB values of one set of lamps at a time. I have 4-6 LED RGBS i want to control independently...

Re: Midi controlling - default note off value?

i found a solution...
in Cubase.. Midi list editor... a note has a Data1-value = pitch, data2=velocity, data3=note off velocity... So setting data3=0 solved my problem.

BUT, another problem arises..
In cubase the maximum value is 127, while freestyler uses 255. Så by choosing 127 in cubase, i only get 254 in Freestyler, and not 255.
Since the Sound-control lays om 255, i cannot access this feature due to the "rounding-problem". how to solve this???

Still to bad i cannot control more than one set of LED lamps this way, by changing the CMY value via midi.

Another solution i found was to use the override buttons. but here i cannot use the velocity to fade the lamps...
:(
