Master Intensity Ignores fixtures minimum intensity setting?

Post by merccat »

Greetings All,

I was asking about this in another post, but have since through some additional experimentation found it to what appears to be a bug.

I have a couple fixtures which share strobe and intensity on the same channel (not the best fixture design, but whatever). Anyways. The fixtures in question are Chavet color splash Jr in case anyone wants to replicate this.

In checking the fixture files, the intensity channel is set for channel 2 and the levels are 128min and 255max. I bumped it up to 135 to be safe.

The fixtures are loaded and put into a sequence run in a que. I use the Master Intensity to lower the intensity of the sequence (also watching DMX output to verify). Shure enough as I lower the M.I., it ignores the minimum value for the Color Splash Jr's and continues below my set value of 135. Dosen't sound like a big problem except that below a value of 128 these guys start strobing.

I realize it would not be fun to code the logic to ensure that all lights dim evenly through the range specified (you'd have to calculate the steps based on the difference between the min and max values, then track that for every light etc.) Would it, however, be possible to put in a check to make shure a light does not drop below the specified minimum?

Of course, there is always the possibility I am abusing/mis-using the intended purpose of the Master Intensity in which case, please tell me so I can stop it.

Thanks... and BTW :fs:
