Chauvet Intimidator ch-605

Post by drukar »

Greets all!

I have been trying to figure this one out off and on since last October. I did get it to work once, but only with one fixture (I have two), and I still haven't been able to reproduce that one success.

The anomalous behaviour is whenever a dmx signal is present. In stand alone they both work like a charm. But when I link them up, the mirrors reset to the upper left position and no longer respond. The color wheel and the gobo wheel continue to spin like crazy. The only influence I have been able to get was using one of the included intimidator 1.0 profiles, but the only difference was I could get the mirror to wiggle, then it would immediately go back to it's upper right and locked position. Aside from that, if I set the pan to 25 it slows down the garble that it's putting out. That one shred of control seems present in every intimidator profile I've used on it.

I've coded up my own for it as best I could right off the manual, but that brings me to a second question. The fixture itself says it's a ch-605. Chauvet's website has no ch-605, but they do have a ch-605A, which is refereed to as the intimidator 2.0. Are these two models the same? I would presume not, as the designator a is there for some reason. Perhaps if these two are not the same, I may be imputing wrong data? It's been mighty frustrating, I can assure you.

I tried to include two videos, one of the fixture doing it's nothing, and the second is of the light/gobo projection on the ceiling, but avi's are not allowed. I have however, included the chauvet 605a manual and my coding of the fixture.

Any thoughts?

Try highlighting the fixture and use the sliders on the right hand side for each channel to verify that the light responds like it's suppose to. If it does not respond according to your documentation (which may be wrong), make notes and change your fixture file accordingly.

Hi Shannon,

The sliders have no effect, with exception only to the pan, which when in the vicinity of around 25, slows the gobo and the color montage down enough to where you can at least make out the shape/color for a second or two. Little to the left or right, as well as every other slider has the same effect; nothing. Just psycho color/gobo on the ceiling with no scanning.

I've tried altering the individual functions within the fixture, just to see if I could find a heuristic cause and effect anywhere to build off of. I thought perhaps since the pan seems to be the only *responsive* function, (said loosely) maybe switch the gobo channel with the pan to see if I could get control over either. No beans... lol

Any more thoughts?
