Strange Sequence Activity

Post by Duckfather »

Hi all

I apologise if this is because I'm doing something obviously wrong, but I've searched the help and the forum and haven't managed to find an answer.

If I try to create a sequence for my RGB LED PAR's (or any fixture in offline mode), when I've finished the sequence of steps and look at it again, all of my steps have been changed to something bizarre! :?

For example :-

I create step 1 of a sequence as all of my cans set to full red and full intensity and all active channels (RGB and Intensity) set to Fade
I add a new step and change all of my cans set to full green, full intensity and all active channels to Fade
I add a new step and change all of my cans to full blue, full intensity and all active channels to Fade
I then save the sequence.

The result of this (as far as I would expect) would be a fading sequence going from red, through green, to blue, with the ability to loop and fade back to red.

Yet when I look at the sequence now, all three steps are now set to full blue, full intensity and all active channels Fade :?

I've created other sequences (doing exactly the same steps as above) and ended up with everything green, or sometimes all white!

Is this just a nasty bug or am I doing something ridiculously stoopid :(

Andy

I think you do something wrong somewhere, as otherwise many users (including me) would have the same or somewhat the same problems.
I can't see what buttons you press in the sequence window, but there's 1 button a little bit nasty when pressed at a 'wrong' point.
The 'Save changes to all steps' button. Reading your description, I first of all thought about this button. Maybe you pressed that?
If you press that when created the last step (blue, full itensity, fade) then those adaptions are backwards saved in step 1 and 2.

Furthermore you can press the < and > button to see if the sequence steps are properly made.

Thanks for the response.

I've tried various combinations of the save buttons (save changes to all steps, quick save and save as), each seemingly with differing results.

The sequence I described in my previous post was literally setup a step, add another and set it up, add another and set it up, then save as. All the steps then got screwed (checked by using the < and > buttons).

I'm at work at the moment, so I can't check, but I have a nagging feeling that the steps also got screwed if I used the < and > buttons before saving. I'll double check that tonight when I get back.

As an update, I've un-installed 3.0.1 and installed version 2.95h. This version doesn't seem to be as prone to this wierd activity (using exactly the same steps as described above), but will also occasionally re-set just two of my PAR's (tellingly, the two that are from a different manufacturer with different control channels to the other 6) during running the sequence in a cue (this could be down to user error though ;) ). I could probably get by with using v2.95h, but long term this isn't going to be an option as I need to control everything from an FCB1010 MIDI footpedal and v2.95h just doesn't have the control I need :(
