Hello All-
Within the last few weeks, I decided to make the jump to Freestyler to control my intelligent light show (moving heads, scanners and color changers).
I'd say I'm pretty comfortable with the basics of the set-up portion (created the fixtures I needed using Fixture Creator and the ScanLibrary Editor, positioned my fixtures, built a stage, etc.), but I'm running into a problem during playback:
When I create a lighting scene with all of the attributes that I want (everything appears correctly in SunLite's 3D visualizer), I create a sequence by hitting the '+' button and then save those particular scenes. Before saving, I selected the 'add to cue' check box.
I repeat the above process until I have about 5 scenes in the cue (the 5 scenes in the cue appear exactly as I named them).
So, time to run the show to see what I've created.
When I display the cue listing and press the play button just to the left of the named cue, I can see the cue stepping through each scene (i.e., 1:3, 2:3, 3:3) in a loop, but nothing is happening in the 3D visualizer box. It continues to display a static scene and does not move to the playback settings.
I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. I've watched a few videos on YouTube and looked at the info in the DMX Wiki, but I must be missing one little thing somewhere.
Any thoughts as to where I went wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Kevin

a quick thought: did you close the sequence editor before you opend the cue window. did you not close the sequence editor at all?
when the editor is opend the 3d visualizer is in offline mode meaning that you can program sequences while you have sequences running on your real lamps whilse the magic 3d is showing what you are programming.

Also have you got the 'device' set to 'virtual interface'
Setup > Freestyler Setup > Controller > Virtual Interface (Last one on the list).
If this is all correct and you are not in offline mode, look at 'Show Output' - Edit > Show Output.
This will show you if FS is changing the DMX value on the relevant channels. This will change in real time as your sequences or cues are running.

Answers to your questions:
At this point, it looks like this particular issue is resolved, I'm sure I'll run into more problems along the way!
Thanks for your help!

I did have the 'Virtual Interface' controller selected. Output refresh rate value = 50, I didn't mess with that value, not sure what it does... LOL Eventually I will be running the show through an Enttec Pro USB dongle, but for now, I'm in learning mode before I attempt to go live.LJ_krede.dk wrote:Setup > Freestyler Setup > Controller > Virtual Interface
I'm not sure if the sequence editor was open or closed while I was attempting playback. I just ran a quick test with the editor closed and it seems like the scenes are now correctly changing/displayed! So that looks like what my issue was (sequence editor box was opened up).LJ_krede.dk wrote:Did you close the sequence editor before you opened the cue window. As above, the values in the 'show output' box are now changing to their correct values. The 'show output' is really handy, thanks for the tip!dmxlighting wrote:If this is all correct and you are not in offline mode, look at 'Show Output' - Edit > Show Output.
