Sound 2 Light Problem after update to 3.2.8!!!!

Post by Todzjoe »

Hey dudes,

i have a problem with my Freestyler version 3.2.8. I have used FS 3.0.2 before and after my update to 3.2.8 the Sound 2 Light is not working. The new sound prog. from digiplay works (Faders show the music correctly), but is seems that it wont transmit the beat data to FS correctly.... When i start my seqences they just run to the time. I set all my fixtures to React to Sound. In the CUE list the React to Sound button is activated. Jump To next Step is also activated too. If i change the 100 % to 20 % is of course slower but i want it to react to the sound.

Sound 2 Light was working with my FS ver. 3.0.2....after the update it is not...I have created a new Seqence but it is also not working to Sound.

Can someone help me?

Be sure to use the most recent version of S2L (beta 1.0.0.8) since the earlier version (1.0.0.5, in the freestyler package) has a bug preventing it from proper function on some installations.

Greetings!
I'm just starting with Freestyler; have an Enntec Open DMX controller, and a bunch of Digitran 50 DMX controllers that are dimmers for red, green, and blue neon tubes that I salvaged from out of the floor of a Las Vegas Strip show called Momma Mia. Had to create my own custom fixture, as I didn't find Digitrans in the included list. I have 36 of them hooked up, and am able to turn them on, dim them, and brighten them again with the master dimmer control that swings in from the far right of the screen when I have selected the fixtures. Very exciting! :D Haven't been able to make them do much of anything else yet.

Was trying to get the sound to light add-in working (I was using the 1.0.0.5 version) when I noticed this posting saying to use 1.0.0.8 with Freestyler 3.2.8. So I installed 1.0.0.8, and reran the program, but 1.0.0.5 keeps poping up even after uninstalling Freestyler in the control panel (using Vista). Any suggestions?

I hope to use these diplays at the next Burning Man festival at the Black Rock Desert, if I can get them working.

Thanks!

Dirkimus........

when you install S2L beta 1.0.0.8, make sure you install it in the right destination folder

by default FS is installed at "C:\Freestyler" and S2L at "C:\Program Files\FreeStyler"

set it to the same folder as FS and the installer will overwrite the 1.0.0.5 version and FS will use 1.0.0.8.

Thats weird. If I install FS its default location is C:\Program Files\FreeStyler. So it seems there is more to it.
I'll have a look at the S2L setup soon, see if it can automaticly determine where FS is installed and use that directory.

I tried it out on a laptop running Vista. I don't know if it is different if you are running xp?

Running at Vista, XP Home and XP Pro. All in C:\Program Files\FreeStyler for some reason.
Maybe because I'm running administrator rights at all systems or so.

Thanks for suggestion to get Sound 2 Light in the right Directory! Freestyler now loads S2L V. 1.0.0.8 as you suggested. I now have sound playing in through line in jack, and can see the bars dancing nicely to the music, and I hear music well thru speakers and headphones.

However, am unable to get lights to turn on to the music. I know connections are ok, as I am able to manually brighten/dim them (0-255) with that master slide out tool on the right-side of the screen. I have checked react to sound, and have selected all 36 fixtures I have connected, but none illuminate to the sound.

What am I missing? Suggestions?

Thanks muchly

have you programmed a cue yet with steps that can be triggered by sound to light, or are you trying to activate the internal fixture sound to light function, in which case this will not work.
