Can someone explain how this function works?

Using a fader or rotary control will give you 0 to 255 in dmx levels. You can also use push buttons but this will give you 255 (max value) only.

If / when you use midi to dmx you will be directly overiding any other sequences that may be running and you will need to use 'Release All' to revert back to your sequence / cue / submaster

Gotcha. I should of played around with it first, but I'm offshore at work for 2 weeks and don't have a midi controller to try it in the visualizer.

Lee, You mentioned in another thread that you use it also for your colorstrip. Did you assign the first channel of the colorstrip to a rotary knob, that way you can scroll thru the built-in programs within ch1? If so, how well does this work when you need to get to a specific program using a knob?

Or, did you assign a pre-determined number to a button? If so, couldn't you have just used the over-ride buttons?

I don't have the BCF-2000 or any midi controller that has knobs or faders. I am still trying to add up the benefits of purchasing one that does.

Yeah like this except I use the faders. I assigned the first chauvet fixture channel (in my case ch40) and then the other three as well (41,42,43) to 4 faders on my BCF. It pretty easy to recall inbuilt programs this way after a bit of trial and error. Fortunatly midi values are 0 to 127 which is almost exactly half of dmx - 0 to 255 and a bcf displays midi values as you alter them. So if you want a dmx value of 100 then I can pull the fader to a midi value of about 50. The other way to be more acurate is to have the dmx channels values on display in FS. Edit > Show Output. Then you can move the fader or knob to the exact value you want.

Thanks Lee. Lately it seems that I'm using midi controllers for "on stage" control. I'm currently working with my Roland SPD-S to control FS and precussion sounds at the same time thru the PA. It's a bit more challenging because you have to remember twice as much. What sound is programmed to a certain pad and what function in FS will be midi triggered. Plus all the different patches setup within the SPD-S for different songs. Not to mention performing all at the same time Why do I always seem to load my own plate to where it's over flowing

I can see plenty good reasons to own the BCF2000 if I was out front being the LJ, but that seems to never be my situation. I'm glad to see that the "midi to dmx" functions were added for those of you who do use a controller with knobs and faders.
