DMX400 Question
Ok, so it's either very simple or not possible.
Let's say I have (6) LED Pars pointed to the DMX400. For the most part, I utilize the S2L function and let the programs run with varying interval speeds.
But, there are times that I'd like to take control of the lights for a few songs. Such as a slow set, when I want to turn them all blue.
Is there a simple way to accomplish this?

Re: DMX400 Question
We the best thing to do is not use the dmx400 and use the cue page instead.
DMX400 is really like a standalone simple chaser. You will be better of learning to use the cue page and then you can easily do what you want and also easily recreate the chases of the dmx400

That I do agree on.dmxlighting wrote:We the best thing to do is not use the dmx400 and use the cue page instead.

And, I know how to program and use the que page, so to get the effects I want, I guess I'll have to take that route. It would be nice if you could easily turn on and off the dmx400 functionality with a group of lighting, to allow easy access to control them when needed.

Re: DMX400 Question
Well you can but you need to use cues or submasters and then add in dmx400 control. I sometimes use it to create on-the-fly shutter chases. Its not really an ideal way to control your lights as it can become quite confusing.Randy A wrote:That I do agree on.dmxlighting wrote:We the best thing to do is not use the dmx400 and use the cue page instead.

I think you need to build up some contol pallettes and look at using submasters. You will find this a much more satifying method of control and it will give you loads of flexibility. Have a look here - http://www.freestylersupport.com/fsforu ... f=6&t=1803 Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: DMX400 Question
Since I don't always use the same amount of pars, I find that the DMX400 feature works very nicely to keep my shows going.
So, I found that I can create a sequence --- let's say in this instance all blue pars. Then, while my lights are pegged to run in DMX400, I can click on 'Static' and then hit the 'All Blue' sequence in Cue and it works.
What I'll probably end up doing is creating several par sequences with varying light quantities, such as 4, 6, 8, or 10 pars. Put them into their own sequence folders and pull them up as needed based off of how many pars I'm running for that particuliar show.

If the highest amount of pars is 10, then create one sequence for 10 pars.
If you then connect only 3, who cares? It will work, the data for the other 7 pars is just not recieved by any DMX reciever.

There won't be any delay in between steps as it cycles thru pars that aren't in the mix?remco_k wrote:You don't need to.Randy A wrote:Since I don't always use the same amount of pars, I find that the DMX400 feature works very nicely to keep my shows going.

Re: DMX400 Question
yes, there will be visible delay, but depends on how you have made the sequence
what you could do is make a sequence for all your Par cans. then delete the step where u have leaved a par can behind (or change it so it is another par can which is lighting), and save this as another sequence. easy and simple.

Wait; lets get all in sync here.Randy A wrote:There won't be any delay in between steps as it cycles thru pars that aren't in the mix?remco_k wrote:You don't need to.Randy A wrote:Since I don't always use the same amount of pars, I find that the DMX400 feature works very nicely to keep my shows going.

Answer to this question can either be yes and no.
Depending on what you have made in the sequence:
1. One or several steps that control all of the pars at the same time.
2. One or several steps that control one par in each step.
If 1: no, no delay
If 2: yes, delay in the amount of steps used, simple because it still wants to control those pars your did'nt connect. FreeStyler don't know that, so it is sending out DMX signal as usual. But just nothing receives it.
In this case you'll need to adapt your sequence(s) to the amount of pars connected.

Re: DMX400 Question
That's what I thought, Remco.
That's why I'll either have to create multiple sequences for a set amount of pars or utilize the dmx400 and use the trick that I found.

Re: DMX400 Question
You guys also need to be reminded that I'm utilizing FS in a mobile dj atmosphere. Although, creating sequences and stuff is easy, it's not something I want to be messing with prior to a gig.
