Strobe to sound

Im only using 3d easy view b/c I dont yet have an adapter I need for my real strobes. I am however practicing on Acme Bf750s which are very similar. Where would this option be?

are you still using magic3D to see if you get one flash per beat? don't, the magic3D fixtures are not accurate enough

To single flash the Martin atomic strobe only the intensity slider is used(from 0 to 255 and back to 0), so not having a "single flash" function in the DMX channel description, does not mean it can't do it. If it can, you need to find the channel value combination, like the one on the atomic, to get the result.

I wish you had told that earlier. Forget what you are doing and have tried.
Retry all given advice with the real fixture as Magic 3D does often not represent a 100% real life scenario. (I hope it did in this scenario for you...)

when your fixture has special attributes/effects, the magic3d cant always visualize it correctly. for example magic3d fixtures don't have the "flash once" feature which the atomic has as a feature/effect. other features to be mentioned is speed channels, gobo shake, some strobe features and so on.

regarding the timing for your strobe, i dont know if the magic3d shows it correctly or not. i have experienced that magic3D is a bit out of sync (delayed). i would suggest the best way to test it is on your fixture. if you want to use magic3d before you get an interface I would recommend you check the fixture for magic3d with scanlibrary and make sure that is set to the right frequencies.

Im a big fan of the free magic 3d vis. Yeah it does have its limitations but for scans and heads, leds and strobes its great.
Im still working on a way to add in new gobo's (mostly the colours are all there). It seems to be starngley encoded but god knows why, I'll keep trying.

The secrect to use magic 3d is don't expect to much and think up work arounds for effects lights that don't really work in 3d.

Yes I use it purely to save getting all my lights out to programm. Takes a while to set up, with a lot of compromise, but it works for qick programing.

You wrote you have a Martin Atomic Strobe 3000.

1) Download and install the new Sound 2 Light beta (1.0.0.4) from http://www.digiplay.nl/fs
2) Create a 2 step sequence, Step 1: Intensity (channel 1) to 255, the other 3 channels to 0. Step 2: All 4 channels to zero
3) Set the sequence in a cue,
4) make it respond to Sound and start the sound 2 light function from FreeStyler.
5) Enable the Beat multiplier by setting it to "2" in the S2L software.
6) Enable the Sequence Restarter for that sequence you have in the Freestyler Cue window

Now you'll have a flash every beat.

If I use this method, with a combination with my other cue's I assume they will go insane, If I use the beat multiplier to 2?

I don't have a DMX strobe yet, at this moment because I can't get hold of a dmx adapter "DMX Strobe Converter (DMX-752)" for my strobe "Chauvet TECHNO STROBE 2000

All sequences that are enabled for sound to light, get a multiplied beat signal then. So they'll all run twice as fast.

With this in mind, I know what your next question is gonna be.
So, I'm going to see if there is another way of flashing the strobe on every beat, without speeding up all other sequences.
I think I have a great idea, need to check some things before I promise something.

This is great (I think).
The next version of S2L, S2L can flash a choosen override button shortly (customizable in milliseconds) on and off, allowing users to create a sequence, assigned to an override button x that does the strobe go "FLASH!" once when pressed and released.
This makes it possible to let strobes (like the Martin) or other fixtures (smoke machines ) flash to sound without having to use the beat multiplier. But it may be used. Beta release will show up this week.

You should wonder if that combination is able to let the strobe flash once on an exact determined moment because many strobes can't do that.
The above described Martin strobe can, along with some others. Its possible yours can and can not.

you see, the thing is, I started with none-dmx lights a long time ago, and being in school and taking out a couple of thousand bucks just for fun, just to do nice party's at my ex girlfriend house...lol. wast of money

and now I have get rid of all my old lights that I don't light, like snanners, none-dmx , lasers none-dmx
and my smoke machine have a dmx adapter now, thx god, and now I want my strobe to have a dmx adapter also, but that's not to easy to obtain, It looks like I would have to import the thing

but I don't wanna sound gay or something, but I'm in love with DMX, so sorry for my random threads, I just want to get some info on my random specific dmx questions, and a search doesn't always work on all devices tho..like a said , I don;t have alot of resources...beside importing stuff, I just dont want to buy unnecessary stuff like another strobe, I already have enough junk

The Chauvet DMX Strobe Converter has been discontinued by Chauvet, but places are still selling them if they have them in stock. I found 5 websites that are advertising them and that was without even trying hard to locate one, all I did was search on Google with the following, chauvet dmx strobe converter DMX-752.

yea aint google awesome, lol man, I have already emailed them all this morning asking it they have stock, might be my last resort by ordering something form USA, I'm waiting for a responds now, my local shops don't have it

Well, like LJ_Krede says in the other thread, contact Raph about it, describe your problem and wish clearly. He's started implementing the blackout option, so there's no point for me to do the same in S2L. Unless Raph is aborting this option...

But I have tested a strobe to sound, function on my laser, and it was a mess, are there a guide how to this strobe to sound...
I made a cue's "laser on" and so on....I have played around with steps to try different thing like "step1, laser on, step2, laser off" and "step1 laser on" and save the cue and insert the cue to button 1 and set the S2L thingy to do beat flash.. so I got a messy strobe to sound function on my laser with fast flashes but here is the problem, as the beats go, it's going on off on off on off, the override button 1 flash doesn't seem to work well this the laser, because on every every 2 beat, my laser shows a offline sigh that blue !

Please read yourself what override buttons do.
They don't play complete sequences, they just play the first step. If there are more steps, they are not played.

Then it still should work as you have made it. But: you should test by hand first, by manually pressing the override button.
You should configure it as a flash button. Because then it will go on if you press it, and off if you release it. Then start S2L, let it control the flash button and here you go.

I'm getting error to beat now, of file cannot be found? but I have just inserted button 1 with a cue file

EDIT: the error goes away if I insert the same cue file into button 2, and ticked on the button 2 tick box in S2L

But have to kill you if you find a bug, because I have a very clean background. I never had created a bug in my life before. I just tell everyone its an undocumented feature.
But this is something in FS, so you're in luck. Out of my lead.
Please dig some deeper. This is basic operation, works at many, many people perfectly. So make sure you're not mistaking something before calling it a bug.

I'm going to try it with my laser now..because doing a strobe "laser burst" to sound is also cool, how must I setup it? as if it's a strobe?

well, you might have found a bug in me but I don't get this override button, I don't know how to make it work . it's just to complex

but my button 1 is really messed up, If I click on it, it runs my steps, but if I select it in the beat flash option tick box and click on manual beat button it give me a error like in the previous screenshot
