it does nothing,
just allows you to run freestyler without an interface.
you may be able to do what you want with artnet thou.

oh
i dont like artnet, because of the default ip/subnet adresses...
but, is it possible (i know, thats not artnet protocol standard) to change the ip adress of an artnet gateway in freestyler ?
btw. how does the communication between martin-lightjockey and freestyler works ?

Re: "Virtual Interface" how does it works ?
i want to build my own ethernet based dmx interface/controller includes an integrated stand-alone-solution, webinterface(configuration) an some other special features.
atm i use industrial microcontrollers : "basic tiger" (multiple rs485 interfaces[dmx], ethernet).
it would be nice control them over ethernet, but i wont change a lot of ip-adresses, when im using default artnet protocol...i need a more flexible solution.
and i think the artnet standard (controller=server, interface=client --> therefore default ip adresses), (nonstop tcp package transmission of values like DMX) is outdated. thats my special reason why i wont use artnet.
but when i can access an "virtual interface", i can run an application, who manage the connection between freestyler and my controller, because i dont think, that the author of freestyler would integrate a very special interface driver...
i very like freestyler, otherwise i would create an own dmx controller software

send a "bug report" with your ideas and about your interface maybe raph could create a custom solution to your needs of freestyler and your interface.

Re: "Virtual Interface" how does it works ?
Hi all,
I'm tanking up this post to avoid writing new one, because of the similar question I would made.
What I'm trying to do is get DMX from Freestyler and put it in an application made by me, like it happens with Easy View, which get the FS input and light up the virtual show.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks
