Hi folks.
I'm new to this forum and I hate writing a first post to ask for guidance, but I'm kinda stuck at the first hurdle.
Is there a fixture available for the IMG Stageline LE-504 light unit, or maybe a list of fixtures somewhere that I can search through?
I had a look at the fixture creator, but couldn't figure out how to create a fixture for a non-laser fixture.
I need a fixture for a 4 channel lighting unit. It has 4 spots of different colour that can be faded and set to chase, etc. I know the DMX channel values for the functions that I need, but can't figure out how to create a fixture for it. All the basic fixture templates seem to be for controlling mirrors etc. for laser fixtures.
Is what I want to do even possible?
A link to a nice tutorial would be helpful, I'm pretty tech savvy with some experience coding and manipulating 3d environments, but I'm pretty new to the world of DMX.

If you can't find it there, you will need to create the fixture file yourself.
Keep the DMX channel description in your hand, start fixture creator, create a new profile and choose for "parcan, dimmer...".
From there its all up to you as there are too many different types of ligths. Thats why there is no tutorial.
Read the rules in the red section at the top of your screen, try to create the fixture file, if you fail somehow, post your not or half working fixture file (*.pff) here together with your DMX channel description. Tell us what is not working and what does and we will guide you.
Or open another fixture and look how it is done.
Also look at other brands and types of fixtures. Many fixtures, especially the cheaper ones, are often exactly the same. For this fixture, look at the JB Systems IColor4 (wich is in the FreeStyler fixture list). You might be lucky as that fixture might just work for you.
Also you can try a normal 4 channel dimmer. For that, in the PAR 64 category choose the "4 PAR64L" and see if that works out.
And for both of these fixture goes: open them in the fixture creator to see how it is made. You'll learn from there.

@remco_k: Thanks for the informative response. The JB Systems IColor 4 is indeed similar to the lighting unit that I have. Thanks for pointing this out, it would have taken me forever to locate this single example (as far as I can tell) of a 4-spot light unit amongst the plethora of laser units.
Whilst the JB unit appears simpler than the units I'm hoping to use, looking at the fixture for it seems to provide some ideas.
Am I right in thinking that a bit of a hack will be necessary to get the results I want?...
Channel 1: Primary colour selector or chase/fade toggle... So I'd use a colour wheel and put some dummy colours in to represent the chase and fade settings?
Channel 2: Colour sequence of the chase/fade... Another colour wheel that represents the different colour sequences. Seems pretty simple, that one.
Channel 3: Speed of the chase/fade... Use the strobe setting as a hack for this? I can't seem to find another slider option that might fit the bill.
Channel 4: Fader. Pretty simple, this one. Just use the Intensity setting with the numbers reversed. ie. 255 = max. fade = min. intensity, etc.
I do indeed want to be a fisherman rather than someone who begs for fish, and have begun to implement the fixture myself. I'd like to do it "correctly" though, and post the finished fixture for general use since it may be useful. I'm just having a little trouble figuring out what "correctly" is since my light unit is not a laser unit and lighting units seem to rather poorly provided for in terms of fixtures for FS.
If the strategies that I outlined above seem to be reasonable then I'll continue and post the result. If not then if they work I'll just use it myself so as not to embarass or mislead anyone else.
@Onge: Thanks for pointing out that sub-forum. It's easy to miss the simplest things when new to a forum.
There was a fairly good tutorial that gave me some hints on the basics, but I couldn't find any way to customise the options that were available on the fixture other than the rather clunky seeming basic toggles. I'm assuming that the hacks I proposed above are the correct way to implement the features that I highlighted?
