Can't load cues into submasters
I've just gotten started with Freestyler and I've managed to assemble some simple cues/sequences.
However there's a few things bugging my mind:
First of all, what is the difference between cues and sequences (is there any)?
Secondly, how do I load cues into the submasters?
When I click the "OPEN CUE" button the mini file-browser pops up but the cue list there is empty.
If I open the sequence editor (why is it called a sequence editor when you in fact are creating cues in it?) I see my saved cues, I can load them and they work like they should, but they are not visible when i click the "OPEN CUE" button in the submaster configurator. And I can't drag n drop cues from the sequence editors file list to the submaster either. When I open windows explorer and take a look in the freestyler folder I notice something strange. My saved CUE files has been saved into the "Chases" folder. If I move them to the "Cues" folder instead they are no longer available for loading in the sequence editor, and still not available when clicking "OPEN CUE" in the submasters configuration.
Is this just a lot of bugs or am I missing something obvious?

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
Your pretty mixed up right now, I'll walk you through it and hope this will help clarify things for you.
--The Sequence Editor is used to create single or multple scenes (also called chases). For example: Open the Sequence Editor (first), now select each light and turn them all on to red. You have just created a "scene" or the first "step" of the sequence in which the lights will react.
--Now push the + button and you will create the second scene or step of the sequence, in which the lights will react. For the 2nd step or scene, make all the lights turn blue. Now, if you push >> (the play button), the "sequence" of events will be: red, blue, red, blue.....OR the colors will "chase": red, blue, red, blue..... same thing.
--Next, save the sequence of events (also called chase) and name it "RED/BLUE". Check off the "Add to Cue". Freestyler saves the sequence/chase you just created in the chase folder and adds it to the Cue window.
The Cue window allows you to store up to 20 chases (or sequences of events...same thing), so you can easily access them in one spot without having to open the "Sequence Editor" for each one you create.
--Now create a new sequence (also called chase) and make the first step with all the lights green and the second step yellow. Save it "GREEN/YELLOW" and check off "add to cue". Close out the the sequence editor and open the Cue window. You should have two sequences loaded and "Cued" up ready for you (hence Cue window). Your cue window should have RED/BLUE as #1 and GREEN/YELLOW as #2.
--In the Cue window, the buttons numbered 1-20 on the left allow you to run the sequences you added to the Cue with just the push of one button. Which is faster than opening each sequence individually and pressing play.
--Now find and click the "Save Cue" button and name it "colors". Freestyler will save your "Colors Cue" in the Cues folder.
--Open the Submaster and click "Open Cue". You should see your "Colors Cue". Drag it into an empty Submaster. The Submaster is a place to store up to 20 Cues (which contains up to 20 sequences each) for even faster access of everything you created.
Once you understand all of this, You can find more info on the Submasters and how I use them here:

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
Thanks a lot for that explanation!
I've done what you said and I've made sure that only the channels that i want enabled are set to SNAP and all other to OFF.
When i re-load my sequences in the sequence creator they all work like they should with the proper settings, aswell as in the cue list.
BUT, when I load my cue into the submaster and click the different gobo cues (i did gobo changes instead of colors) the lights turn off for some reason and the only way to turn them on is to manually to it in the lamp settings. I've double checked to that I've saved all the sequences correctly with lamp modes set to SNAP and the light intensity at 100%. And like I said earlier, when I activate the sequences in the sequence editor or from the regular cue list they all behave like they should.
What could be causing this?

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
Each submaster has a submaster intensity slider at the right side of the submaster. If your sequences in the submaster controls the intensity, the submaster imtensity controls the intensity of the running sequence. click somewhere on the slider besides your submaster to turn up the intensity.
I think you should read the help file in Freestyler.. If i remember correctly, all this and more are discriped and it is a good way to get the hang of Freestyler and its features.

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
I have run into this problem as well. Actually last night. I will describe what I did and it may or may not help you trouble shoot your problem. I created a sequence that would make my moving heads strobe fast. It worked fine in the sequence editor and the cue window, but did not work in the submaster (the shutter would just stay open). I only had one preset made in the sequence editor for my moving heads. This preset would set the dimmer channel to 255 (which is full open), strobe channel to 5 (which is open w/ no strobe) and set the focus to 185. I created another preset with all the same settings, but changed the strobe channel to 85 (which is max strobe speed). I opened the original strobe sequence I created and applied the strobe preset to it and saved it again. Wha-lah,,, now it works in the submaster. I can't explain why that fixed it. Not sure if its a bug or not.I've double checked to that I've saved all the sequences correctly with lamp modes set to SNAP and the light intensity at 100%. And like I said earlier, when I activate the sequences in the sequence editor or from the regular cue list they all behave like they should.

Do you have presets made? Did you use one of the presets when you created the gobo sequence? Try applying a preset using shutter open, then change the shutter channel to "OFF". Re-save and try again. If this works, we may be on to something about the presets.(i did gobo changes instead of colors) the lights turn off for some reason and the only way to turn them on is to manually to it in the lamp settings.
I also found another problem last night. I have a cue made up with just colors scenes. The cue has all 20 sequences full. All the sequences work fine in the sequence editor and the cue window. When that cue is loaded into the submaster, the last one does not play. I tried loading the cue into each submaster, but the last one still won't play. That last scene was yellow/blue. I loaded the "colors cue" in the cue window and re-saved the cue with Blue/Pink being the last scene instead of blue/yellow. Now back to the submaster, the last scene which is blue/pink now, don't work. I have other cues that have all 20 slots taken up and they all work fine. The last one will play in those. It's just this color cue that the last one won't play. Not a big deal not having that 20th cue, but I just thought I would share. I'll keep looking for a work around for it.

I fooled around some more, and eventually it started working, and like you said: I don't know exactly what was causing it.

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
It wasn't the submaster intensity which was the problem?

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
if you don't touch them and don't turn them up, your sequences wont light if you have the intensity on snap or fade in the sequence! that could be the problem?

Re: Can't load cues into submasters
I suppose it should behave that way, but everything is working without me touching the sensitivity levels.

Worrying!
Are you turning the lamps on BEFORE you use the submasters - example - selecting all the fixtures and the cliking on 'OPEN' on the lamp window.
This might explain whats happening here.
If you are using subs then only use the subs to control. Or remember to 'release all' if you really need to play in 'program mode'
