What am I missing?
I've been using Freestyler for a couple of years now pretty succesfully for my bands needs.
To the designers,it works GREAT! Thank You!
But I have one nagging problem.
I use intimidator 680 moving heads with it and I can never seem to get them to function independantly of each other all the time. I usually get frustrated and assign them to the same DMX channel so the will do the same thing,or mirrored with the pan reversed.
I've tried seperating them in FS by a number of fixture channels and this doesn't work either.
Got any clues as to what I may be doing wrong when setting up my scenes and sequences?
I'm using 2.96j on a enntec open interface.
I have no troubles with any of my othe fixtures,Irradiant LED pars,DJ Scan 250's, Colorstrips,Shinp DL-22 laser, dimmer packs and switch packs, hazers. They all work great.
Thanx JD

Re: What am I missing?
You need to isolate the problem down to only your moving heads for testing purposes.
Please point out exactly how you adressed the fixtures (make sure the DMX channels don't overlap and make sure you adressed them the same in FS).
From there its easy, you should see as many moving heads in FS as in real life.
If you select one in FS and do something with it, (like pan/tilt movement) then only one fixture should move its head... The rest should stay stil as they were.
Is that what fails already?
If not, try to tell us more specific what is going wrong then.

Re: What am I missing?
What version of FS are you using?
Your profile says 2.96. Is this the case still?
There is a bug on the movement beizer in all FS versions under 3. This could be the problem ?
I recommend an upgrade an the problem should go!

This I have done and it still happens,so I will look at upgrading to 3.01 and see if thats the issue.
I do not have any overlaps as I checked that also.

This I shall give it a try.
I really liked the version that I'm using, but as you mentioned it only happens when I'm using the movement part of the program so this may be the issue.
Thanx for all your help.I'll report back as soon as I can get a chance to break out the gear and give the new version a run.

Re: What am I missing?
I too had the problem of other moving heads mimicing the first moving head that I set to a moving shape. What I found to be the problem was that the "View" was still open on the shape when I selected another light, even after I deselected the first light. Now I will:
Select the first light, pick a shape, turn on, set the speed, set pan & tilt to snap, click "View" again to close that window, then deselect that light. Now I select another light, turn off, click view, pick another shape (or rotate the same shape or flip the X & Y untill it is opposite = 180 degrees), turn on, set the speed, set pan & tilt to snap, click view to close the shape window, deselect the light. Select the next mover and repeat. This is how I get 6 different lights to do different shapes without any problems.
I still use 2.96J because I like the ball moving. I just wish you could add or subtract some of the blue or red dots from the shape! I recently had many problems with 3.01 which forced me to go back to 2.96J. I will post that in another thread. I hope this helps.

Re: What am I missing?
Hey thanx for that suggestion.Reading through your post made me realize that I have been leaving the "view" window after programing a shape in.
It only seemed to happen once in awhile so that may be the key. I also like the 2.96j version.
I tried the 3 version when it first came out and I seemed to get along with the older version better for lighting my band./
Thanx again to all.

All those still stuck on older versions of FS should really get in version 3, Its loads better people!
I know some of you like the little ball moving but what help is it really ? I dont miss it!
Also its well worth moving on with this project as there will be a new release soon and there are lots of cool new features that make programming easier.

Re: What am I missing?
The ball moving helps with creating shapes that I do for different setups. Not having the ball move is like not have the coffee with the donut
I had too many problems with 3.0 as described here: http://www.freestylersupport.com/fsforu ... f=6&t=1616 I am not sure why others haven't posted all of these problems saving, etc. I was really frustrated after several days working with it, that I just went back to what worked for me. I am not sure if maybe my download was corrupt or what the deal was. The same problems carried over to two different computers, so its possible. I am looking forward to the next update.

Well now I'm kinda waiting on the latest release to give it a try.dmxlighting wrote:All those still stuck on older versions of FS should really get in version 3, Its loads better people!

I've got a BIG Halloween gig coming up for our band where were hosting a couple of other bands and we will be using my PA as well as my modest little light rig;
8 par 64 ,16 par 38 ,4 par 56 LED,2 color strips,3 intimidator 680,2 DJ Scan 250's,4 strobes, 6 moonflowers,1 shinp dl-22 laser,2 hazers and a few blinky lights that won't be DMX.
So all of these things are working nicely in FS 2.96j right now other than the 680's not doing their thing independantly of each other which Shannon had a solution for that I'm gonna try in the next week or so.
I don't wanna be at the gig trying to learn and re-program everything all at once,i'll have enough on my hands setting up the PA and mixing sound for other bands as well as running the lights.
I really like the Sound to Light feature in the present version I'm using, I've been running a aux feed from our board with the kick drum assigned to it into my laptop and setting it up on the bass count at 16 and we get great results that way.

Re: What am I missing?
Here it is a couple of months later. I down loaded the latest version a couple of weeks ago and all the problems I was having went away!
Miss the little ball moving around but I usually program my stuff at the venue when its set up so not a biggie.
Figured out how to set up my FCB1010 to connect to Freestyler AND control my guitar at the same time.I only use the FCB for some basic things like black out,but if I had more of my swtches available I could now do wharever I need with it.
I can help if anybody is using a FCB with the Uno chip upgrade to control Freestyler. My first reccomendation would be to download ripwerx for the FCB as it has a midi window so you can see what your pedal is sending out and it's much easier to program the FCB with a midi editor>
