Hi guys, Im a total newb to DMX and I have been reading up alot over the past few weeks.
we have the following kit so far - it is to light up a small show for a 4 piece rock band in pubs
6x par 56 LED cans
2x Icolor IC-4
3x LED DMX Tubes
4x Par 64 cans run via DMX Dimmer
1500w DMX Strobe
I have had a bit of a play around in freestyler after buying / building the Velleman K8062 interface and it works great, but it seems an extremly long process even to create 60 seconds worth of light show?
I dont know if I am doing things properly really - all I am doing is editing the parameters of each light then clicking the + button to add a step - I get a few of these together and make a short scene
Am I doing things the right way? I was hoping for something that could do chase patterns across the par56 LED's without taking 30 mins to make a 10 second chase pattern!
I guess this is why people do not share thier shows if it takes this huge amount of work to get it all running!!
are there any plugins avaliable to assist in making the shows a little bit simpler??

Re: Total newbie
you are doing it the correct way.
It can take time to build up a good collection of sequencies for your lights but it will be worth it!
How do you play back the sences and sequencies ? Cue sheet or submasters?
If you get into using submasters for playback you will find that you can make a sequence for say just the pars and separeate ones for leds and playback one at a time or all together, loads of flexibilty.

Thanks for the reply - I have been making the cues then dragging into the sequence window and for the most part just triggering them from there
what is the procedure for using submasters?

Have a look at this tread - http://www.freestylersupport.com/fsforu ... =58&t=1394
Read through the posts and download the zip files.
It will be a learning curve to get it all working but that will help you.
Also it may help you understand what the subs are for.
If / when you get stuck I will be able to help you more................
