American DJ DJ Scan 250 EX, Movement not smooth

Post by reverett1522 »

I'm using the attached fixture file, but my movements aren't smooth on slower scans with my ADJ DJ Scan 250 EX, seems to move in spurts. The visualizer looks smooth, but the output with the fixture is jumpy. I tried switching to 16bit, not even sure if the fixtures are, and freestyler doesn't allow it. What's the deal?

Thanks!
Rob

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try putting the degree maximums in when I get home.

I think you're right on the quality of the fixture, it's a ADJ DJ Scan, not a Martin or HES, I shouldn't expect too much out of it, especially for the price. My previous experience with intelligent lighting was a set of 4 MX-1's about 5 years ago, but at 3 times the cost, plus the name, they were far superior. Even with stepper motors they scanned really smoothly.

I may try a hardware DMX controller and see if the movement is the same, at least then I'll know it's the fixture and not the software or interface.

Thanks!
