eurolite TS-5 going crazy

Post by SashaB »

Hi all!

I have 2 eurolite TS-5 and the following problem: Pan/tilt and colors work with FreeStyler fine, but the gobo-gheel ist going crazy (it goes forwards and backwards around the hole with no gobo). And the Dimmer of the 1st one doesn't give 100% Power to the Lamp.
The first scanner is working on channels 7-11. The second on 13-17.
If i set the first scanner to use the channel 13-17 the dimmer works fine.

Both scanners are working well with my eurolite Scene Setter 24.

There is also a strobe in the setup an chans 5 and 6.
It works well.

Have someone running an eurolite TS-5 Scanner with FreeStyler?

Please excuse my bad English.
If this thread isn't in the correct area, please move it. thx!

It almost sounds like you either have something else programed in or a short in the DMX line.. Are you useing a DMX terminator? how are they connected? are the PINS + and - in the right order?

open "show outbut" in the Edit menu and try to see what freestyler is sending out of DMX values on the different channels. and make sure that you address the scanner correctly for address 7.

Thank you for the fast answers!

@ LJ_krede.dk: In the "Show Output"-window the output seems to be ok. All the Values are correct. Channel 11 and 17 are at 255.
The values on the chans of gobo-wheels seems to be correct also. But when the values even at 0 the gobo-chans the gobo-wheels "swing" back and forth around the open hole with no gobo...

@matt: I am using a 110Ohm terminator. I've changed all the XLR-cables. I don't think that all my cables can be broken.

Not really. I've tried different settings and another software (DMX-Control). Same Error.

Now someone told me, that these scanners perhaps need a longer timeout between the packages. But why tilt/pan and the color-chans work fine?!

I don't understand it...

Is there a setting for timeouts between the dmx-packages in FreeStyler?

not in the current version, but in next version this will be available.

some troubleshooting:
is it only at the first dmx address where this problem happens? have you tried to change the address on your other scanner to the same address where the problem happens for the first one? is some your other lights in master mode and sending out DMX?

@ SashaB - It could be (as you said) a problem with the DMX refresh rate. If you have an Enttec Pro dongle thaen you can slow it down, if not then then hold out for the next fs release. Also are you able to get hold of a traditional desk of some sort to test your fixture(s) on.
It could be (dare I say it) that its a fault on the units. Ive seen other strange problems on similar cheap fixtures like this.
