Freestyler 2.96 release F causing a hardware crash

Post by fbnts »

Hi,

Don't want to report this as a bug just yet as I don't trust the system I am using Freestyler on.

We have been using release D for ages and I saw the new release so after backing up the installation directory install release F.

When freestyler starts up it makes the PC do a hardware reset.

I have reverted back to release D and its working fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Tom

If its the Open DMX the data rate is controlled by the pc not the dongle hence your dongle may be over stepping the pc and causing it to have a system crash just a guess thats the benifit of Vista you can turn that option off a boot so you can diagnose the problem i think in XP u can turn it off in the Control panel/system and on one of the tabs this may give u a bluscreen or something that will get you more information...

Open Task Manager and see whats running.. Kill of process that you don't need. I.E AIM, FireFox, Winampa, Itunes Hepler, Adobe Acroread, ETC. They slow down the pc. next time when you have it set up, let me know.. PM me and i will give you my number. Just call me and i can remote in and look at it. I have been able to run FreeStyler on windows 2000 / p2 128mb ram laptop.

Hi,

Unfortunately theres no internet connection at the club.

All un-nessessary programs are closed, its working fine with an early version, just not Release F.

I'll have to try upgrading the PC over the next few weeks, if I can get the funding (Yeah right!)
