For instance, if I'm playing a snap sequence and I've hit tap sync to keep it in tempo, then change to a sine wave that I made with the FX editor, and want it to move more than 1/12 of the cycle per beat, I'll hit the tap sync button really fast or use its slider in the cue list.
But then I'll want to go to some other sequence, maybe a fade sequence this time. Maybe I've had a beer or 4 and forget that I need to adjust the tap sync tempo before changing sequences. So now the sequence is running at like 500% which just looks dorky. Now I have to click on the cue list since the configure 'gear' is usually hidden under another window, then click the gear, then mouse down to 'All speed to 100%' and by this time a good 5 or 10 seconds has elapsed. Ouch! My light show just sucked for 10 whole seconds, and the audience noticed.
If the button was there right by the other buttons, I can recover in 1 or 2 seconds. The audience would hardly notice at all.
Thanks again, Raph!
