Problem with RGB Device fading
I've done research to figure out this problem I've got but I've found nothing.
Basically the problem I'm having is with my par 64 leds. I have set up a single step in a sequence, which I have saved to a cue button. I have the cue set to fade in, but when I click the cue to turn it off, instead of fading out, it immediately shuts off. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have tried several things to no avail. Keep in mind that these are RGB devices, channels 1-3 RGB while channel 4 is the strobe channel. I have also noticed that when I turn down the master intensity it has no effect on them.
Since there is no primary intensity channel, this was something that was left blank on the fixture creator for this device. Each channel is its own intensity. In other words, you turn up the red channel and you get red, turn up the green and you get green, and turn up the blue and you get blue. The only other channel left is for strobe, so i don't know if leaving the intensity channel blank in the setup is what the problem is or what.

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
dont know how to fix the first problem, what fixture are you using?
regarding the master,, try do give the intensity channel for your light the same channel as the strobe (channel 4) and enter the off value... maybe this will help

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
i assume you have two steps off and on (to the colour you set) make sure the button on both steps for the colour is set to FADE this will fade in the colour at the required fade speed and the fade on the second will determine how quick the fade will be when you stop the cue! just also check that the time of each scene is long enough for the light to fade out i.e. if the fade times 500msec and the scene time is 250msec then the fade will be cut short hope this helps!!

sorry also when the light is in the off postion click the arrow the arrow that points to the right in the cue manager to the right of your cue (restore values) then once you click off on the cue manager it will fade back to zero or else it will stay on.

Ok I tried that. It works for when you click the cue to turn it on, the lights fade up, but when you click on the cue button to turn it off, I have the same problem, they just shut off immediately with no fade.DJ Support wrote:sorry also when the light is in the off postion click the arrow the arrow that points to the right in the cue manager to the right of your cue (restore values) then once you click off on the cue manager it will fade back to zero or else it will stay on.

Actually I only have one step in this particular sequence I'm working with. I know that I could potentially use another step to fade them down, but my problem is, there are going to be some cues that I am using that are going to have multiple sequences with different types of lights running at the same time, so that would pretty much knock that possibility out.DJ Support wrote:i assume you have two steps off and on (to the colour you set) make sure the button on both steps for the colour is set to FADE this will fade in the colour at the required fade speed and the fade on the second will determine how quick the fade will be when you stop the cue! just also check that the time of each scene is long enough for the light to fade out i.e. if the fade times 500msec and the scene time is 250msec then the fade will be cut short hope this helps!!
Another problem I've run into is that I am having a difficult time creating an fx to run properly with the leds. Since there is no "intensity" channel on the actual fixtures themselves, there is no way to use a sine wave because it would be trying to use an intensity channel that doesn't exist. I've also tried using other attributes in that drop down list but none have worked.

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
well it works for me with just one step!! Do you knw what I mean when I say the button should be on Fade and the restore values button is on in cue list...?
oh and with that effects thing maybe you could just have these effects with the 3 primary colors red, green, blue i.e. make a new fixture in fixture creator for each one using the channel that operates each colour as the intensity channel if you know what I mean...

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
Hi, been away for some time from the forums, glad to see the old account transferred over.
I am also having this problem:
How do I change the intensity of a RGB Led fixture which does not have an intensity channel?
(I.E. : Red 0-100% gives a red colour, and acts as a red intensity, etc etc)
This becomes a real pain because the following things do not work:
- Master intensity
- Submaster intensity
Any help before tomorrow would be greatly appreciated

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
Well, the only way is to decrease the values of the R, G and B channel evenly if you want to dim the fixture.

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
I'm sorry, but that isn't an answer to my question.
I need a work around within Freestyler, not a general answer..
At the moment, the submaster only regulates the intensity channel of the fixture, which is a design decision.
How then, can I get around this limitation and get RGB fixtures correctly dimmable?

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
Ok thankfully I'm an idiot. I know that sounds kind of funny but here is why. I found out the main LED fixtures I'm working with have 5 channels, one with an intensity channel. I was so relieved. The other two are led washes that have only 4 channels, so I'm back to my original problem on that. Thankfully the 10 led fixtures I'll be mainly using are going to work like I want them. I've just got to figure out what to do with the other two!

Aha, you need a work around. Let me think .... .....LJ Exodus wrote: I need a work around within Freestyler, not a general answer..

(Having a dejavu moment now)
You can't, thats why I posted the work around earlier. At the moment, the submaster only regulates the intensity channel of the fixture, which is a design decision.

The design decision, as you call it, is pretty much a worldwide general way of how these kind of things work.
If you are going to use a real DMX panel you would have the same problems.
It would be a mess if (sub) masters under some circumstances are going to 'dim' other channels than intensity channels.
Next to that I think its strange that RGB fixtures don't have a seperate intensity channel. What fixture brand and type is it?
Maybe you missed that the fixture has another DMX mode, where the intensity channel is?

Re: Problem with RGB Device fading
Or make 1 override button which blacks out all lights, would be a solution for that.aquas wrote:hi,
