Hi guys,
Does anybody know if I set Freestyler to output Artnet, a visualiser on the same computer will be able to 'see' it?
I have software called MagicQ which outputs Artnet and my visualiser (WYSIWYG) can see, but not sure if this would work with freestyler or not?
Cheers.

Re: Artnet
Hello Tom,
It is possible to have both Freestyler and Wysiwyg working on 1 PC.
You need to connect your pc to an ethernet hub or connect an ethernet loopback connector to your pc.
Information on how to make your own loopback connector can be found here: http://www.tikkiweb.net/loopback
Make sure that the ip address of the port with the hub/loopback connector is at 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x.
You also need the luminex Wygalizer software that you can download here: http://www.luminex.be/products_details. ... escription
to make Wysiwyg listen to Art-Net.
Start Freestyler first (this is important!), select Art-Net for the output interface controller.
Then start Wygalizer and select the ip address (should be in range 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x)
Then start Wysiwyg and select the ETH DMX device from luminex and that should work.
Just remember that if you have to shut down Freestyler, than you should shutdown Wygalizer also and restart Freestyler first before starting Wygalizer.
If you do it in any other order, Freestyler just does not send Art-Net packets.
Grtz.

Re: Artnet
WOW
great infomation, spotlight.
i allways wanted to see my light programming in WYSIWYG when using Freestyler, now i can
I mean, is this the only way to get WYSIWYG to show the lights shows fre Freestyler? if not, i havent figured it out
there is just one thing: cant you use other free visualizers? if you have to do it on the "right" way you have to "buy" WYSIWYG

Re: Artnet
Hi,
You can use the visualizer from Martin LightJokey.
Ryan Lelek has written a good manual on how to do that.
it can be found here: http://www.freestylerguide.com/
At the moment I do not know of any other free vizualizers.
Grtz.

What's wrong with 3D Easyview that comes with Freestyler?
I need a lot of functionality from WYG that 3D can't provide - such as mirror balls.

Re: Using Artnet to use other Visualisers
I do not own my own LX desk - I hire them in as and when. I wouldn't use it for a big show however I had a small event at school on Friday and they can't afford to hire in desks all the time (ours is broken at the moment) so the ability to program and use freestyler away from school is useful. However when I do more complex shows - WYG is most useful!Onge wrote:If you are using (can afford) WYG and WYSIWYG why on earth are you using FreeStyler for your lighting.Tom wrote:What's wrong with 3D Easyview that comes with Freestyler?

Who said anything about paying $4999 for it?

Going to back to a very old thread - why must the IP be in the 10.x.x.x range?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Using Artnet to use other Visualisers
It doesn't.
I use 192.168.20.xxx range.
I think that used to be in an older version. It was just setup that way.
Now it doesn't need that specific range. I would stick to the usual ranges tho. 10.x.x.x. or 192.168.x.x of 172.16.x.x etc.
