Hi
I'm new to Freestyler (and DMX), and think I need some help understanding the concepts of how Freestyler is intended to be used.
I'm looking to start of with a very simple set up - a few LED PAR cans connected to Freestyler. These will be used as lighting for a band I play in.
I've created Fixtures for my LED cans, and loaded them into Freestyler. I've created a test sequence, to flash the lights in various combinations, and this will run either on the internal timings of the sequence or by sound to light.
I want to create a number of sequences for different songs (some subtle fades, others with intense flashing etc). I will probably control these using Sound to Light (although I may experiment with setting the sequence to the correct speed for the song - I'm the drummer so it'll be up to me to play in time!!!)
I'm not sure of the best way to set this up in Freestyler?
Should I load all the sequences into a CueList? or have each sequence in its own CueList?
What are the SubMasters used for? (I have experimented putting the CueLists into the SubMaster window, but I'm not sure of the advatage of doing this)
Secondly, I would like to select the correct Sequence for each song using Midi.
I am testing the midi functions using Midi Yoke and a Virtual Keyboard. I am seeing notes registered in the Midi setup screen (and can assign notes to functions) so I'm confident the midi connections are woring OK (I'm very familiar with Midi, so I'm not expecting any issues here).
I've tried assigning Midi notes to various functions in FreeStyler, including:
Toggle Blackout
Sequence 1
Sequence 2
Toggle SubMaster 1
SubMaster Go 1
SubMaster Back 1
Manual Trigger
Toggle Cuelist 1
Toggle Cuelist 2
But I can't seem to be able to get FreeStyler to react to any of these commands from Midi.
Which Midi commands can be used to select and start a particular Sequence?
I'd be grateful for any assistance or suggestions on this...
Many thanks in advance.....
Paul
