Hello, trying to figure out a weird problem I am having (see other post) and came across something I was not familiar with. If you have more than 32 fixtures in your chain do you need to add a DMX splitter, signal booster to your setup. I know I have exceeded this limit at times but I just wanted an opinion from someone else, if this is a real thing or some sort of theoretical number. I mean I get it, it is asking a lot of my usb powered dmx interface to send out a signal to a pile of fixtures on hundreds of feet of DMX cables. But I have done it before. Thanks
Paul
More than 32 fixtures you need a dmx splitter, booster?

I have never tried to run 100+ fixtures on a single line, whenever I have that many fixtures I am usually split out a few times and am using many wireless fixtures

That is quite a lot to ask of a small USB-powered DMX device. I bought this for my theater just to expand the number of outputs, but this should also help with your power problems. I believe ADJ also doesn't recommend daisy-chaining more than 10 fixtures.
This is a cheap option (about $30) on Amazon. It only needs power and then it amplifies your signal!. I would recommend also getting some 3-to-5 pin DMX adapters if your fixtures need that, as this only has a 3-prong XLR input and output.' (There is essentially no difference between 3 and 5-pin connectors, just more backup "ground" wires.)
If things are working as-is, then it's not a huge deal, but always better to be safe than sorry at gigs! And $30 is definitely worth it in my opinion.

Oh nice, thanks so much guys for your input and suggestions, and for the device link. You are right it definitely can't hurt to try a booster and a splitter. I have used them in the past, but do not own one.
I will try it out
Thanks!!
