General Questions

Post by lightingtech88 »

My laptop crashed on me a month ago forcing me to buy a new laptop which came with Vista. I've been browsing through all the Vista Support topics and everyone says Freestyler runs fine with Vista. I've downloaded it and everything is fine, but over time I get error messages that say "Freestyler has stopped working and cannot continue" in which Vista forces the software to shut down. This happens at random times; at some points as soon as I load the software it happens. Does anyone else experience this problem and can it be fixed?

Second, is another Vista related question. On my old laptop with XP, I was able to go into my program files, then Freestyler, and click on the files "Chases" which accesed me the Bezier shape files and the sequences I've created. Same with the "Cues" file and "Locations" file if I wanted to access cues saved and locations saved. With Freestyler running on Vista, everytime I save a sequence, cue, or location file, they don't appear in those folders. If I go back to open/edit them in Freestyler, I can access them fine. If I wanted to move these cues, sequences, and locations to Freestyler on a different laptop, how do I find the files to do this? This happened with 2.96J, 3.0.0, and 3.0.1.

And finally timecoding: Can we PLEASE, bring back Winamp or a different means of Timecode for Freestyler? I know Winamp didn't work so well with 2.96 softwares, but there has to be another solution. I'm forced to use PC Elapsed Timecode, which works great, but doesn't go down to miliseconds, just seconds, which throws off some of my cues in a song. Every Cue/Cue list I create, I timecode it to the song it belongs too, its mainly the reason why I do light shows, to get them running properly to the music.

Along with timecode, can we also expand past 20 cues per list? I think I speak for EVERYONE, when I say this. Over 90% of Freestyler users can't stand the 20 cues per list, even with the fast cue switcher. My reason? Well since I timecode every cue to a song, and songs require more than 20 cues, I have to run over to the fast cue switcher to keep the cues to the song going. How does this work, if Timecode is supposed to run the show itself? I shouldn't have to monitor the software with timecode, but with the 20 cue max, I have forced too.

I might be forced to leave Freestyler if I can't use a proper timecode method....

Sorry hammering this down, but its my 2 cents and some of my questions.
