Freestyler, syncing timecode.

Post by chrisgazpacho »

Hey Guys -

Looking at possibly switching to Fresstyler. I'm in a 80's tribute band. We currently run our lights with a DMX Operator 192 synced Midi to a MacBook running Digital Performer. Most of your drums are either V-Drums triggered midi, or actual audio drums played back. Some songs are played live on the drums, those songs the lights are triggered midi for a Roland Octopad.

I would like to gain more control over the lights, I can't do any of the scanner movements that I would be able to do with Freestyler so I'm trying to figure a way to add this into our set up. Obviously we would need to have a PC. My question is, could we send a timecode out of the MacBook to the PC to trigger the lights? Can we set up each song within Freestyler to start and stop? Not sure how it's set up. Also would it be possible to rum Vmware on the MacBook and send timecode to it that way? Don't know if that's too much for 1 machine to handle. We have about a 60-80 song set list and I would like to be able to have the whole show programmed. I can reuse scenes, I'm not sure on the limit. My real interest is the scanner movemsnt. Being able to have them do sweeps and figure 8's is aweome and it would take me days to program that on a light board.

Any tips are appreciated. I really want to figure a way to make this work!

Thanks!
Chris
