Any reason I should change from Freestyler to an Avolites Desk....????

Post by Uriahdemon »

Hi, I have been using FS for nearly 5 years now and have got to know it quite well. The only thing is that to use it I needed to add a couple of MIDI controllers namely the KORG Nanokey programmed for the overrides and a Berhinger BCF 2000 to allow my left hand to control dimmers on the sliders etc

It has taken quite a while to learn to the extent that I have but always find the submasters as limiting especially when having a rig with quite a few different moving heads on it.

So this set up for me has allowed me to do some quite large venues/events but the problems are:

The EV3D visualiser and having to make fixture files for it which I am not too good at.
Not enough submasters for live on the fly control and also programming cues
Continual resets during live shows.... (I am putting that down to the software having to do so much given my peripheral control devices)

So I was just wondering if anyone else has been in this position and had similar thoughts and what you did i.e. move on from FS or stick with it as you found out you were not doing things as you should do.

I would be grateful for your thoughts indeed.
