Changing setup info in freestyler.ini file

Hi All

Ive been trying to change some setup info in the ini file like 'Number of Scenes' from 15 to lets say 100.
Also other thing like having the cues and butons open on start up.

At first it seems I cant even save the new settings as I dont have permission ??? Its my pc so why not?
Anyway I saved the file to my desktop then moved it to the relevant folder. This seemed to work.
But no. When I run FS it ignors my new setup info and runs as it normal would do.

Any ideas?????????

By the sounds of it your probably on vista, or a guest account on xp.
Right click the file, properties, and add your self to the permissions.

Or login as an administrator.

Thanks for that. I have now changed the permissions.
Still wont work (This is on a Vista Platform)
I was able to change some setup info in the 'extra options' under freestyler setup.

I realy need to have more scenes avalible that just the standard 15. Ive looked in the forum and it would seem there are others with this problem.

If anyone has found a way round this please share the knowledge with me!!!!

does it allow you to save?
remember that freestyler has to be closed whilst you make the changes.
Make sure you give your user account full control.

Yes I can save any changes now. They dont seem to make any difference though.
Im opening the ini file in note pad. It then lists all the options....

[ResetAll]
reset=true

[NumberOfScenes]
Number=50 ----------- 'This is the bit I have changed'
Mode=1

[StartWithFirstScene]
enabled=1

[Show_Cue_And_Buttons_At_Startup]
value=1

No matter what I change the number of scenes number to I can only go upto 15 when I run FS.

Also would you know where fs stores all the file info for user created scenes, sequences, cues etc.
The folders in the fs directoy that I would expect them to be in show as empty.

Before you say it. Im only running one windows platform (not dual boot or anything). Am I missing something here??

I have done some more tests for isolate this problem which give more strange results.

I re-saved a location that I created. This time I told it to save to the desktop, which it did.
I then did a search of the whole drive for all .flf file (*.flf). The only file that showed up was the one saved to the desktop.
I also did a search for all .chr files. This drew a blank.

I know its weird and probably down to Vista.

I have now solved this mystery!

It seems I have a separate install of FS in a most strange location....

C:\Users\Lee\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\FreeStyler

I installed FS and only I use this PC. How did this happen???????
If I log onto another user account I use for work stuff (this is really a secondary account I use for keeping paperwork in) FS works perfectly from
the usually expected location.

Very strange! But Ive now got all the file access I need so the world is a wonderful place again.

Vista is a weird platform sometimes.
